Have you ever just sat and thought about something that never made sense to you in a video game, until you finally realized what it meant? That happened to me fairly recently. I was looking through some of my old 2600 game reviews, came across the title M.A.D., and finally understood what those initials really meant. Its official name was "Missile Attack and Defense", but I'm convinced the title the designer wanted to use was "Mutually Assured Destruction", a central theme in Missile Command and clones like M.A.D.
If there was something in a video game that never quite made sense to you until recently, please describe it in detail here.
