I'm pretty damn sure that it died in that numbered incarnation at 4.4 . There was a 1.1-1.4, 2.1-2.4, 3.1-3.4 and 4.1-4.4. With a variant or two (in packaging) tossed in along the way. Before that they had some different named demo releases done by Sony, 'PlayStation Picks' and the much longer running 'Interactive Sampler' which is what I think turned into the PlayStation Underground series.

Not too long after that they moved it over to the 'PlayStation JamPack brought to you by the PlayStation Underground'. Those started off as things like Fall 98, Summer 99 ect and moved over to numbers a few releases into the PlayStation 2 run (Vol 10 was the first). They are currently on Vol 14 and every one since Summer 2002 (I think, but garanteed by Summer 03) has had a Teen and Mature rated release. The JamPacks come out just about twice a year, which is how they were coming out when still being released as 'sesional' (summer/winter) releases.

I also only ever saw up to 4.4, and I had a subscription the entire time.

There is an issue 5.1, see here:

http://playstationdemos.vgrebirth.org/index_files/ps2list.html

Great site for demo info, BTW.

After issue 5.1 they merged with Official Playstation Magazine, and sent you those instead for the remainder of your PSX Underground subscription.

Hope that helps.

I can see why the title was dropped. There is nothing "underground" about Sony or the Playstation and truth is, there never was.
