Final Fantasy III is the one having a re-make for DS, the others are just ports with added stuff so it doesn't seem much of a rip. I might pick up VI for the hell of it, but other than that I'm not really interested.

I think it sucks that Kefka won't get the DS treatment. If there's one FF game that deserves to be 3D and all prettified it's VI!
WTF, Square? WTF?
Either way, I will buy both anyway. Maybe this one I'll be able to get passed the Atma Weapon.
I'll probably also get V, and of course III on the DS. And I'm not even a big RPG fan!

thanks for the correction on the remake, i wasnt totally sure.
im a HUUUGE fan of Final Fantasy (the games, im not an insane toy collector or cosplayer)... although i think they all went drastically down hill after 7, with 7 being hte pinacle, i still have them all. and all version to boot. i already have like three version of FF6.
im definately gettign these, im so excited about being able to play the complete 8-16bit FF series on the DS... yay. i just hope theres an actual port of III coming, im digging the remake but would like the original as well.

Well Final Fantasy 9 wasn't that bad, it was actually a big step up from the travesty that was 8, then took a big step down with the travesties that were 10 and it's sequel. I do wish that IV was given a stellar re-make, in DS form or whatever, since it was really the defining moment for the series until 7 came out.

I've been with the Final Fantasy franchise ever since the release of the original on the NES, with Final Fantasy II and III (SNES; American numbers) being my favorites, and III being one of my three favorite games of all time. And, unlike many others of my ilk, I do indeed like VII quite a lot, but I feel like that while VII is good, it is also what ruined the series--at that point, the games became too much about just trying to cram a whole world into the game with a million goddamn things to do, which is something I've never really cared for in games (I'm only really a casual player but am also very obsessive and cannot possibly enjoy myself if I don't do every side quest and get every item in a game, which is pretty much a curse that will forever keep me away from modern RPGs, let alone MMORPGs).
Back on topic, I bought Final Fantasy Anthology and Chronicles when they were released on the PS1, and played them a little, but never finished any of the games on the discs. However, when Final Fantasy IV Advance came out, I played it like it was crack cocaine, and had it thoroughly beaten inside of a few days. I imagine the case will be the same when VI is released on the Advance--some combination of being very affectionate for my Classic NES GBA and feeling like I should be playing the SNES version if I'm playing it on a TV when I play Anthology. Regardless, I am greatly anticipating its release.
