I know there is BoF 1&2, Zelda III, Donkey Kong and Mario World. Is there any more?

Those are just ports, not remakes.
I can't think of any games that have been remade that were on the SNES.

Rock N Roll racing

I believe there is a Lost Vikinigs GBA port too.

Contra Advance is a semi port they replaced the over head levels with levels from Contra Hard Corps from the genesis. Well at least the first over head level was replaced that way, haven't really tried to get to the other ones yet.

Final Fantasy V and VI are on the way to GBA. Isn't that 3 and 4 on the SNES, I keep getting those confused.

Shining Force Resurrection of the Dragon is a remake of Shining Force for Genesis.

Suprised Daria did not mention that one since she is a moderator over at shiningforcecentral! :D

Well, if it's a port of the SNES version, don't even bother. The SNES Aladdin is inferior to the Genesis Aladdin in every way. Don't let anybody tell you differently.

Final Fantasy V was never released on the SNES, it remained in Japan as, well, Final Fantasy V on the Super Famicom. Final Fantasy VI was released as Final Fantasy III over here on the SNES. Final Fantasy IV was the one released as Final Fantasy II on the SNES.

Well I on the other hand believe Aladdin for the SNES to be one of the greatest platformers on the system, and back hands the Genesis version. Sure it's much easier, and a bit shorter, but it's damn fun. Much for platforming, less action.

The GBA version is literally identical, the only reason it really was shunned upon in terms of reviews is because it added nothing to the SNES version. There was some bonus levels, and I believe a multiplayer mode, but nothing worth getting excited over. I highly reccomend picking it up.

Does anyone know if Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts is a port or not? I have the box to the GBA version (but no game...) and all the screenshots look familiar, except one has a creature that I can safely say was not in the SNES version, so I wonder if it's not a port?

Anyway -

Super Mario Advance
Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World
Super Mario Advance 3: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
Disney's Aladdin
Disney's Magical Quest Starring Mickey and Minney
Disney's Magical Quest 2: Starring Mickey and Minney
Disney's Magical Quest 3: Starring Mickey and Donald
Aero the Acrobat
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past w/ Four Swords
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (?)
Tales of Phantasia
Final Fantasy IV

But a Genesis isn't a Super Nintendo.

If you like incredibly easy and dull platformers then you'll be in heaven. Otherwise, steer very, very clear. The game is totally different from the Genesis version, which in contrast has aged quite nicely.

Also, I never knew about the changes to Contra III....now I'm interested!

Ah this is true. I guess I should pay more attention! LOL

Still a decent remake none the less!

I liked Prehistorik Man on SNES, I'll have to pick it up. How does it hold of to the SNES version?

I listed all the differences in my GameFAQs FAQ for the game. It's missing the iceberg level, and has some new options at the title screen. That's about it.

Mega Man & Bass. Although if you want to get technical, it originally appeared only on Super Famicom and not SNES.

Desert Strike was on GBA. Most people think of that as a Genesis game, but it did appear on SNES too.

The James Pond game on GBA is a port of James Pond 2, which was released on SNES as Super James Pond.

There was Final Fight One, which I guess is technically an arcade port, but whatever.

That one Pitfall game that was on like a million systems in 1994 (including SNES) was re-released for GBA.

There was a GBA game called Eye of the Beholder. Anyone know if it's a port of the SNES game? I doubt it'd be a port of the Sega CD one.

Contra III had a lot of changes made to it (such as bombs bouncing straight up - I suppose that can be a plus when you're hanging from a pipe, as you can get back your previous item), but the most significant is that you now don't have two weapons, only one, and there don't seem to be any bombs (???). Oh, and they added in random levels from Hard Corps, too. It's still one of the best run 'n gun shooters on the GBA.

Speaking of shooters (and Blackthorne), I played a bit of the original GBA title "Planet of the Apes" recently. It's actually not too terrible. Not really, you know, ENJOYABLE, but it's not that bad for the type of game.

I played Phalanx recently, as well. The cutscenes are great, but the gameplay graphics...ugh. Just terrible. So, so bad.

Still it's not really a bad game, just very generic.

That one Pitfall game that was on like a million systems in 1994 (including SNES) was re-released for GBA.

That was Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure. The GBA rerelease is missing the original Pitfall that was hidden as a bonus due to licensing conflicts with Activision (Majesco got the rights to publish the remake), but other than that, it's an accurate port.

And along with Phalanx, Kemco also ported Kid Klown In Crazy Chase to the GBA.

I'm told some people really, really didn't like what they did to the combat in the GBA version. Turned it into something that looked like the Gold Box games, as I recall. Completely unlike the SNES or Sega CD version in that respect, anyway.
