I heard about this over at CAG. Since I am in another state for the summer, I had to get somebody else to reserve these for me. I had to pick an arbitrary cutoff number of 5, so that if 5 people had reserved either I wouldn't bother, although I'd bet there will be more than 5 Wiis and maybe less than 5 PS3s. Anyway, too many people had reserved the PS3, and I was the first on the list for the Wii.
I only wanted the PS3 for eBay, really, but I was surprised so many had reserved it and so little (i.e. nobody) had reserved the Nintendo.

I'm guessing that half of all PS3 preorders won't be completed transactions. When the actual date hits, people are going to need to cough up an additional $500 or $600 to their $50 deposit to actually walk away with one, and that is if there aren't any forced bundles. So, you can be far down on the PS3 list, and if you show up that morning with the actual $650 in cash ready to spend, you might just end up getting one.
Money talks, Bullshit walks. Alot of those preorders were done when people were expecting a $399 price instead of a $599 price.

Isn't FYE the same store that took unlimited pre-orders for the 360 and each store ended up getting only about 5 in?

They weren't taking Wii preorders at mine. I asked if they were, and they were like "no juss ps3 lol."
Of course I rolled my eyes and walked away. Nobody's taking Wii-orders yet. :(

Yeah, I'm not trusting a shit store like FYE. I'll keep trying my luck at game stores, and if that dosn't turn out, I'm willing to camp out at a Best Buy or something.

Gamerush, people. I've pre-ordered my 360, DS, and PSP from them and they are pretty reliable (my GR only got 6 360's in at launch though, so I had to wait a few weeks until another shipment came in). I think each store only gets 10 systems in at launch, so just make sure you get on the list early. From my experience though, most people don't think to pre-order systems at Gamerush, so their lists don't fill up until a week or two before launch. They usually let you come in at midnight to pick them up too.

Sam Goody's is also taking PS3 pre-orders, when I was in there last. FWIW. YMMV.

We've been taking pre-orders for both systems for a few months now.

I just pre-ordered a PS3 that will go straight to ebay when I pick it up. Thanks for the heads up! :)
For the Wii, I'll be standing in line. You don't really live a console launch until you wait in line for it.

Yeah, I would have rather reserved the PS3 and took my chances with the Wii. The PS3 will be much harder to come by, although I only want to re-sell it.
Did you see how many people had pre-ordered the PS3 already?

Anyone know if any game stores have started to take reserves for Wii yet?

I'm not going to camp out for either, and I hope that websites dont run out of pre orders or I'll just wait.
