As many of you know, DOSbox (http://ykhwong.x-y.net/page.htm) now supports video capturing (CTRL+ALT+F5) and YouTube allows anyone to share videos nearly instantly across the internet.
Well, let's combine the two and put up some good old fashioned retro-goodness for all to watch!
First of all, make sure you've got your DOSbox.conf file tweaked: set timesynched to true, cycles to about 12000 (depending on the game; 12k works for most stuff), and core to dynamic.
Now when you capture, it'll go into the \capture subdirectory under DOSbox. You're going to have to transcode it because I don't believe YouTube or GoogleVideo support ZMBV AVIs, so I recommend using something simple yet effective, like Nero Recode 2 (http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero_Recode_2.html) (30 day trial with no limitations or watermarks; goes to MP4 or AVI, you can pick). Don't forget to install the XMBV codec and don't forget to diable cropping and resizing within Nero Recode's video options!
Googlevideo has the advantage of allowing videos of any length but the disadvantage of taking a while to validate. For that reason, I recommend uploading to YouTube first and then uploading to GoogleVideo later; once the GoogleVideo file gets validated then not only can people view it on GoogleVideo, but they'll be able to download the original AVI/MP4 if they so desire (because transcoding to flash video results in some crummy video quality).
If you need any help with the encoding from ZMBV to AVC or DivX, let me know and I'll do up a tutorial.
Anyway, my first two contributions are videos from Syndicate. First up, the intro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qw2W_Ap7m2k) and second up is the California Level (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tg8_7BY9NP0), complete with totally abusing the persuadetron. Minor encoding troubles with the video, but I've got a higher quality/cleaner one up on GoogleVideos waiting to validate ;)
So yea, go cap some videos. X-Com level playthroughs, Blood runs, Ultima Underworld clips, etc. Let's put some stuff up there!
