Alright, Im doing a project on eBay for one of my classes.
I need peoples' detailed opinions on eBay.
What are you dislikes of eBay?
What are you likes of eBay?
If you could change something about eBay, what would you change?
The more detailed the better. I want Anthony1-length posts from you guys. LOL
Thanks for the help, DPers!

I'd love to write 5000 words, but those are some awfully vague questions. Are you looking at it from the buyer's side, the seller's side, the financial side, the web-layout-interface side, etc etc?

I hate, Non-Payers, People who buy items from abroad, and then can't speak English.., I hate eBay themselves, the money sucking, low life company, the fact they promote PayPal so much, when bank transfers are just as secure, and completely free.
I like how its possible to get good buys sometimes.. its good to be able to buy something and quickly sell it at a profit, and I like buy it now auctions.
If I could change it.. get a more reputable set of people to run it, i.e. I am looking forward to some sort of auction site by Google, because they are an awesome company, my thoughts of them are very good.. I would make the fees lower as well.
I hereby give you an A+ for this short essay Chaoticjelly... why thank you teacher, have a papple!

Anything you want to talk about: layout, buyers/sellers side. Whatever tickles your fancy..

No, I just want to get peoples' thoughts about eBay without me "sorta leading them" to answers/opinions.

Hates:
Sellers who use Media Mail for EVERYTHING, even if you pay for fast shipping.
Sellers who overcharge on shipping. $10 to ship a cd-based game via Media Mail? Hell no.
Sellers who insist on using flash animations or MIDI on their page layouts.
Sellers who will not answer your questions regarding an item and instead use vague replies to confuse you.
Sellers who use stock photos when the item looks NOTHING like it. (See Greatest Hits versions Vs. Non-GH games)
I could go on about eBay itself, but I won't bother.

i don't like how its become so popular, no longer able to get as good as deals. And on the selling end it leads to more hassles and more deadbeats.

eBay's extra charges for additional pictures or large pictures is just stupid. There are plenty of online places that do it for free. eBay should offer it for free to help out both sellers and buyers for more accurate descriptions. Extra services such as bold/highlighted plus to help promote items are one thing, but better pictures to enable more accurate descriptions are something totally different. I like the Auctiva software myself. It's not the best, but it makes things fairly easy.
It would be nice if eBay mailed or had some sort of online quarterly/yearly sales information for tax purposes.
I'd also like it if they had better completed listings searches that would go back further in time. They offer this I believe, but I think you need to pay for it.
Overall I think the site is very easy to navigate and find what you are looking for. The favorite searches are very nice. I would like to see a better integration of the wantitnow part with the eBay site. That would be very useful for both buyers and sellers.
I would like to see a way to do away with revenge feedback. I'm not really sure how to go about that though. The feedback system is flawed because of it, but there probably is no good way to fix it.
That's about all I've got. Overall I find eBay to be very well set up.

Thats why I always combine a couple picture into one.. that way I don't have to pay that extra stupid charge and I get more than one pic.

I'm pretty sure there's one, but I'll be damned if I remember where it is.

I like it because without ebay rhere are games that I would never be able to get otherwise
I dislike the feedback because it leaves a person open to blackmail more or less
I agree about shipping I dont think if a person pays for priority shipping the item should arrive via media mail
and my biggest peeve and maybe i just dont know how to do it but I want to be able to search ebay with all the store items elemiated from the search.

Ok, here's some random ebay thoughts then...
I hate late-night infomercials that promise instant wealth on ebay without actually doing anything or knowing anything.
I like damn near every seller improvement ebay's made in the last two years or so, such as Automatic Feedback Removal for most NPBs, Seller's "Value Packs," The Best Offer feature on BIN items, Seller's FAQ in the "ask seller a question" area, etc etc.
I hate how the gallery is $.35. What the hell? Why? You basically have to use it too, for many categories.
I like sellers who don't hold back and leave deserved negatives for NPBs.
I hate buyers who send payment through the mail and don't include ANY information whatsoever. I hate buyers who mail payment and start complaining about slow shipping when I haven't even received their check yet. I hate buyers who demand instant positive feedback seconds after they pay. I hate buyers that try to negotiate the shipping/handling charge.
I like (0) feedback sellers who don't know how to spell in the item title, or have titles like "video game." It's about the only way you can get good deals on ebay anymore.
On a personal note, I usually hate being the "ebay guy" at work, because old ladies always ask me unanswerable questions like, "How much could I sell this necklace for?" and "How much is this pair of shoes worth?" etc etc

I hate how E-Bay has basically raised prices almost everywhere. How many times have you seen a sign at a garage sale or flea market saying "sells on E-Bay for $40" I feel like saying "if you want E-Bay prices, you should put it on E-Bay". This even seems to happen here in the B&S forum. If you have a price in mind why bother to ask for offers?
I hate how some sellers flat out lie about their stuff and then hold feedback ransom so the buyer will be afraid to get a neg feedback in return if they complain.
I hate sellers that put the rare tag on everything, its just getting ridiculous. Combat is not rare and if you think it is you're an idiot.
I hate sellers that overcharge for shipping, which seems to be every seller nowadays. It does not cost $7 to ship a GB game.
I hate buyers that can't or won't read the description and then ask a question when the answer is clearly stated in that description.
I hate sellers that demand payment within 5 days but then they take forever to send the stuff out. They should follow their own rules.
I like that I can get games I can't get anywhere else. Although with Joes store now open, I find I am using E-Bay less and less to buy stuff. :)
