Sorry for the forum outage folks. The user table got corrupted and had to be patched up. I have no skills in this area, John P came to the rescue and solved it in about ten minutes.

If there are SQL (MySQL in particular) and/or database "experts" amongst us, please get in touch with me - I'd really like to avoid lengthy outages like this and we should pool our skills!

In the meantime I'm going to be looking into improving the hardware as well. We simply have too much traffic on too small a box right now.

Was it just a quick "REPAIR TABLE" job described here?
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/repair.html

In any case, that could be useful reference for the future. I kind of wonder what caused it. Did the disk run out off space, possibly temporarily? Did the server have a power loss? Or, god forbid, race conditions and deadlocks? Heh.

If you need to upgrade DP's hardware, I'm sure you could pull some money together through a fund raiser.

Thank God. I had to substitute Nintendo.com's Legacy System board to get my retro fix... stupid kids don't even know what a Virtual Boy is...

Joe, I hate to be a bugger but running in safari something is amiss.

Whenever I use the "back" button (in safari's window) I get an error message like I did earlier this weekend. So far all the links work, but alas the back button does not.

Just a heads up, sorry I dont know anything on how to fix this.

Hm.. "back" is working ok in Firefox, Mozilla and MSIE. I haven't used Safari in a long time, I'll D/L and see what I can do to correct that.

Thankfully the ORG was working, otherwise I would have never known that the Bubble Bobble games I saw at a yard sale was worth something!

Hmm, it's not cached page data, is it? Try blowing away your Safari cache and see if it stops.

I'm not having any problems with the Safari browser. Probably a cache thing, clear it out, try again. If you're still having problems, PM me with the specifics and I'll try to duplicate the issue you're having.

i'd like to suggest something:
as kinda like a fund raiser why dont some of us get some prizes and donate them to DP and then hold a raffle type thing for said prizes.

i'd be willing to throw in a few things in.
