So I got me a NUON capable DVD player.

Thing is, I bought it solely for the VLM (which the Toshiba model has only 8 visuals as compared to the 90+ visualizations in the Samsung models), not the gaming.

But since I've got it, I figure I might as well do some gaming since I can. Has anyone ever played any NUON games? Plus, what's your experience, and what games would you recommend?

If you wanted to play the games, I would have recommended getting the N501 personally. However, getting Tempest 3000 is a must. After that, well depends if you like any of the others!

And if you do consider selling Tetris, let me know, as I still need it...

Tempest 3000 is the only Nuon game I have that I play at any regular interval. Space Invaders is okay too if you want a plain vanilla port of Space Invaders.

Oh, Merlin Racing is a decent Mario Kart 64 clone. It's actually pretty fun.

Thanks for all your help, guys. I still want another NUON player; preferably an N501 model like Mayhem said or an N2000.

I heavily favor buying systems in their boxes. But finding NUON players in their original boxes is incredibly hard. Finding NUON players alone is somewhat difficult as well. :eek 2:

Does anyone know where I can find NUON systems in the box? Plus, how much do NUON players usually run for these days?

eBay is pretty much the only place for Nuon stuff now. Admitedly I haven't followed sales recently, but back when I got my N501, finding a boxed and complete system wasn't that hard. Indeed I've still got the box and bumf in the loft.

Tracking down the games... well there used to be a couple of online sites selling some sealed games and controllers (the Stealth, the one that looks like an N64 pad is probably the best), then the rest you needed to track yourself.

My IS3 is still sealed and I've resisted opening it since LOL

Prices are all over the shop at times. I got my complete N501 for under $50 but I've seen them go over $100.

I downloaded a video of Tempest 3000 running, and whilst it certainly looks very pretty and awesome, it didn't seem too much better than Tempest X3.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I had no idea of the game's rarity (in fact, I didn't know the CD ontop of the SD-2300 was a game! LOL ). I'm not really a Tetris kinda' guy anymore. Back in the 90's, I could play it from sunrise to sunset, but these days, the puzzle game 'reservoir' in my brain is about dry and I have no solid intentions of filling it back up. So, I'll most likely part with Tetris soon after the package arrives.

I still need to pick up a controller though. Since I hate N64 controllers with every fiber of my being, I'll just pass on the Stealth and settle for a Warrior pad. NUON-Dome seems to hold it in high regard so I'll play along.

Hey a NUON thread, I'm in :)

Nice grab getting The Next Tetris in that bundle - I've seen the game itself fetch over $100 on the right day. Tempest 3000, Iron Soldier 3 and Merlin are all fun, and FreeFall is good if you're willing to put up with an extreme challenge.

Definitely look in to getting an N501 so you can play some of the homebrew stuff. That's where any of the activity still left on the system exists.
