I have an opportunity to get a 3DO system with Panzer General for $15. Is this a good deal for this system? Also, can anyone give me more info on this system, since I know virtually nothing about it? Thanks much!

:) My opinion -hell yeah! it's much better than the$18 game.com I could have had. If you don't do it ---- Can I have it? PM me if you decide to bail.

Heck yeah...some of my all time favorite games are on 3D0. Some of hte best include:
Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller
Star Control 2!
Crash N' Burn
Road Rash (best version IMO, and it comes w/a soundtrack!)
Icebreaker
Gex (original version!)
Wing Commander 3: Heart of the Tiger
Keep in mind that if it's an original Panasonic 3DO, you NEED the Sampler Disc to access the memory management and delete save games...there's no other way to do it. If you get an original Panasonic one and don't have the Sampler Disc, I can burn you a copy so you can delete save files. Well worth it though, I'd say....I paid $80 with 8 games back in the day for mine.

YES! $18 is great for a game system like that, that you don't have. I got my 3do off of eBay for $90 with 12 games, everything, including the system, mint in the box. For $18 with one, you can't turn down.

I'll echo the yes votes, at that price it's a smokin' deal.

Add another vote for yes, although my 3DO doesn't get much play right now, for $18 you can't pass that up. I paid $40 for just the system (although I found out later it had Way Of The Warrior in it...)

Hells yes. I still want the 3DO back that I bought for $25 in Arizona. There are a LOT of things I'd like back that I'd left in AZ, but I doubt I'll ever see them again (snif).

I love my 3DO. I bought it when they dropped the price from $700
to $500 back in the day
Road rash is my favorite
twisted is a great family game.
The Horde is tons of fun and very funny
I know it gets a bad rap but I still play Sewer Shark every once in a while
You can get games really cheap on ebay

Dude, are you crazy? Are you crazy? You cannot seriously be contemplating parting with $15 for a console. ANY console. Not to mention how cool the 3DO is and how you're getting a less than common game in the deal.

I agree.. definitely pick that one up.
BTW, did you check the DP guide? Panzer General is $10 alone! So, now you are paying $5 for a system and I joystick. I spent more on bus fare today.
Other great games to get:
Out of this World
Flashback
Second nominations to:
Star Control 2
Road Rash
The Horde (Kirk Cameron, what an actor!)

As a new owner of a 3DO unit, I must say yes-go for it! The prices for most of the games are fairly inexpensive and there's a lot of fun to be had. Road Rash is great. Need for Speed is pretty cool. AD&D Slayer is dang tough, and gives you a random dungeon when you start a new game. I paid about $60 for mine with Super Street Fighter 2 (but Twisted was forgotten inside the machine) and even then I thought it was a great deal. But for $15? And it works? Run, don't walk and snag that sucker up!

We all should try to own one of everything. Do it!

I have to go against the previous posts in ONE way.
Are you looking for a system to play or collect?
If you just want some games to play, there REALLY aren't that many good ones, and you might not want to get started ona whole new system just for the few good ones.
BUT, as they said, for that price, if you have the room for another systems, great price, go for it!

3DO Snagged! For the $15, I got the Panasonic REAL system, (so if possible, I'd like that sampler disc, maxlords! :-D ) a joystick, the AV cable, and the loose Panzer General game... (I wish I knew how to play it.... it looks cool!) Basically, the only reason I was hesitant about it in the first place was pretty much what Sylentwulf said... I'm more of a player than a collector, and didn't know if the amount of games for it justified getting a new system... BTW, can anyone tell me what a good source for getting games for this system is? (I still can't believe this thing retailed for $700 tho...) Anyway, thanks for all your input, guys!

I have one in the buy and sell forum. Shoot me $50 + $5 shipping(priority would be more than that but I will pay the rest :) ) and it's yours.

This system is great especially for non-collectors (players) as the games are CDR friendly (If ya know what I mean ;) ) and there are some great titles for it.

I love my 3DO, but I've found only one game for it in the wild, and I LOOK. Man, if it wasn't CDR friendly, the chances of getting games to play on it would be slim....

What do you guys mean by "CDR Friendly"? How do you go about getting it to work? As I said before, I know absolutely NOTHING, zip, zilch, nada... (you get the idea...) about this system...

I found most of my games through EBay. www.gooddealgames.com Is having a sale: Alone in the Dark, Guardian War RPG, Ice Breaker, Shockwave 2: Beyond the Gate and Syndicate all for $29.99. I gotta get a Sampler disc too sometime. I have no idea what stuff is stored on that machine other than what I put on it: my Horde, Theme Park, and Slayer saves.
