Hi there,

I have a stand up Pac-man machine which has been unplugged for about 2 years. The last time I played this it worked fine and it would stay plugged in even if we didn't play it. When I moved I didn't have anywhere to place it until now. I plugged it up the other night and noticed the game screen rolling to the left. After it's been on for a while the screen rolling gets slower and slower.

When I first got it I was told it had been in storage for ~20 years (and it looked it). When I plugged it in then I noticed some glitches but they went away in the next couple of days of having the machine plugged up and playing occasionally.

Does anyone have any ideas on this? Is it happening again? Should I just have it on periodically and have it correct itself?

On the back of the monitor there should be a vertical hold adjustment... depending on the type of monitor, there may be a knob, or it may be a small potentiometer (which you'd need to adjust w/ a small screwdriver). Either way, try turning that until the rolling either stops, or slows down and reverses direction. If you can't get it to actually stop, there's either something wrong w/ the sync (broken wire, bad connection, etc), or more likely the monitor needs a cap kit.

Several times (especially with older monitors), I've found that a hold adjustment was necessary after moving a game. Definitely check that first.
