Please, someone agree with me that the Contact box art is fucking amazing. I mean, how can you not want a game that includes 'costumes that increase your power and make you more fun to be around'?

I have to admit, this does make me want to play the game, and I have never even heard of it.

Hah, nice little stab at Squaresoft style RPGs. :)

It's a fun game. The beginning is very much like Earthbound and the gameplay itself is very much like how battles go in MMOs where you command an attack it acts it out in real time sorta...(think FFXI and WoW).
I've only been played it for a few, but the localization is great. The script felt natural and everything.
This is a definate pickup in October. Thank you Atlus for bringing this here!

Things you wont find in Contact: Guys with spiky hair.
Then on the godamned cover is some stupid image of a kid with spiky hair.
I dont get it like the cover art is cool because its lame? Or it tells you it does not contain what it contains?
Someone explain it to me. I dont get Japanese humor or whatever the hell is going on.

I caught glimpse of this yesterday, and I have to agree with you - it does look just lovely! I just wish the darn game would hurry up and ship, so I can get on with the fun of importing it.
I guess a lot of people are waiting on this one. Fingers firmly crossed that it can live up to our lofty expectations.

Yeah the localisation seems to be quite humorous.
The Bit Generations series box art is fantastic. I haven't been tempted to buy a game b/c of box art ever...until now.

Actually, that is pretty cool. The reflection makes you stop and think a little bit, which is kind of rare for cover art. Bonus points for the cute pixelated graphics on the spine :-D

Yeah, I'd have to say that Contact has some pretty damn good box art.

I was just about to say the exact same thing. True story.
That said, I like the box art's use of white space and grayscale line drawings.
The FFVII stab...eh, too predictable, and kinda amateurish. Not that I'm tied down to that game (never played it).

Before Contact was released in Japan people speculated from the early screenshots that it was Mother 3. indeed the game seems pretty earthbound like, and I can't wait to pick it up!

Did anyone aside from me buy this game yesterday? I've only put about an hour into it so far, but I love it based on that hour (then again, I loved Lost Magic after the first hour, and didn't like it at all ever again shortly thereafter, so maybe I should put more time into this... ). Weird sense of humor, lots of originality, what isn't original is a Mother knockoff--totally my kind of game.

This is actually my favorite DS game at this time. The entire product is like a big evolution of the old style RPGs.
When I say that I mean OLD, as in Dragon Slayer, Xanadu, the oldest Ultima games, etc. Combat especially is taken right from this kind of game. You set yourself to attack mode but control positioning. I think it owes more to this than it does to current MMOs. Especially since you can kill townspeople, with it effecting your alignment and whether or not other people in that town will deal with you and/or attack you on site. Not many games these days do that.
In addition I love the variety of weapons and foods. The game is very polished.
The soundtrack is really catchy. It's very Chrono Trigger-esque actually. I wasn't expecting that for a game with the tone this one has.
I love the dungeons too. Big old hallways with lots of little hidden passages and alcoves to check out. The best example that would stand out in people's minds of this appearing in the older games is probably Final Fantasy IV.

Man I wish we could edit posts.
I like that there's a point where the professor actually says about a boss "Try hitting its weakpoint for massive damage."

They had me at "Monkeys" then i read "Cosmic Terrorists" and then i was then let down that it didn't include "Cosmic Terrorist Monkeys".
Or Ninjas playing golf. :(
But i'm totally all for "costumes that make you more fun to be around".

Why is that an example of humor? Seems standard fare to me...

Hehe its quite obvious that the weak spot makes more damage, but ye, im sure that info is used in alot of RPGs as real, non humorous info.

I can only see this as a new generations version of Earthbound and that could eihter be a good or bad thing.

Hehe i remember that one. But its several of games that mention the weak spot. House of the Dead is the first that pops into my mind.
