I have an original over/under Sega CD system, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it to turn on. I have the power adapter in both the Genesis and the CD unit, but now what? I dont' see any buttons on the CD console, how do I turn it on or eject the tray?

If everything is connected corectly (i.e. the sega is actually plugged into the Sega CD's slot on the top) and there is NO CART in the slot, when you turn the Genesis on, both the CD and Deck should turn on together. You'll see the title screen with the moon / earth that says "Press Start to open tray". Toss in a Sega CD and go.

First make sure there's no cart in the Genesis.
Secondly make sure they're firmly together.
If these are both okay - it could be a bad AC adapter or Sega CD fuse. Do you know anyone else with a Sega CD you could borrow their AC adapter?

You can test the second AC adapter with the Genesis if you're not sure about it, since they use the same AC.
If it's not working set up as people described, it's probably is a bad power board. I've had two original Sega CD units with that problem. Just dead. Is this indeed a bad fuse like C0ldB33R said? I took both the systems I had apart and could find no fuses or any capacitors obviously blown.
...word is bondage...

I've tried switching the adapters, and I'm pretty sure I've got them together correctly. Is there a way to check for a bad fuse, or any common fixes?

The "fuse" doesn't look like a fuse if you don't know what to look for. It's a small green device that looks like a resistor, usually labeled "Fx" (with x being a number) on the board. You can jump over it with a small wire to see if that's the problem.
I've had several Sega CD's with this blown, presumably from people using the wrong adapter or having them plugged in during storms. The device will not do a thing with that blown.

Do what Pete says...its probably a bad fuse.

How much is the fuse..I don't want to pay an arm and a leg, just for a fuse problem
