I am new here. I was told this was a great place for retro gamers. I have been having problems with my jag cd drive. The disc will spin then stop and do this repeatedly for about 3-4 times and then give me a "?" on the screen. I have tried searching for ways to fix but there are none out in the google world. I am thinking some resourceful retro gamers might know a few things to try. I have tried adjusting the spindle base up and down but no avail.

Welcome darth...we have a technical forum for these kinds of questions so I'm going to punt this one over there. Also you may wish to check out the "knowledge base" which is linked on the main page.

Is the lens clean and free of dust?

You can very gently clean it with a lint free cloth, with some isopropyl alcohol applied.

If it refuses to work, its likely that the lens is dead, this is quite a common fault now for Jaguar CD units.

Its possible to replace the CD pickup (i.e. the part which contains the lens) with a brand new pickup, the part should cost about $10 its a very common pickup
