Kaz Hirai's triumphant warcry of "Riiiiiidge Racer" on the PSP led people to believe other key PSOne titles would soon be heading to the PSP via emulation. Apparently Konami missed the memo, as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is making its way to Xbox Live Arcade.

The September issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (issue: 207) reports:

Konami is resurrecting the cult PS1 game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on Xbox Live Arcade. Along with SOTN, Konami is also bringing back other classic hits, some revered (Frogger, Contra, Super Contra, Track & Field) some obscure (Time Pilot), and some really obscure (Scramble).

When will SOTN head to XBLA? Representatives from Konami told 1UP that the game is tenatively slated for a Q1 2007 release on XBLA.

Scramble...obscure? LOL

My thoughts, percicely. Same with Time Pilot. The arcade down the street from me has a TP machine. I used to play it all the time, back in the day.

Thank you Konami! This makes up for that shitty port of Frogger you gave us, and then some.

Too bad we probably won't see it until next year.

SOTN is not a arcade game!

This game is way too big for a arcade title!

I wonder how much it's going to cost?

I want this, but I don't know why since I own the original, oh that's right, achievement points :D

Why am I being forced to come closer and closer to purchasing a 360, when something like this is announced?

The only thing that has me puzzled, is will this effect Konami's support for the Wii's Virtual Console if they ever plan to?

I dunno.. SOTN of the night has SNES Zelda syndrome to me already...

And by that I mean, I love the games so much but I've friggin played and completed the them about a bazillion times already over the years, and explored every nook and cranny, devoted countless hours killing one enemy over and over to get a rare item and everything else under the sun in the game. I often wish I could erase my memory of the game so I could play it again fresh from the start.

In other words, unless they bring something new to it, it's just hard to get excited about playing SOTN again just as it's hard to get excited about completing SNES Zelda for the 124th time.

This just passed up the original SW trilogy being released on DVD as...the greatest news ever (hobby related, of course).

Thats great news!! For those that are saying that it will be to big, the game in CD form has alot of junk space and can be compressed fairly well. I have a feeling MS is going to be lifting the size limit on the XBLA games.

I have never really considered an Xbox 360.

Until now.

I have SotN, but this is showing that MS really does know what quality is. Now if only they do the same thing with Valkyrie Profile...

An interesting development to be sure. I have to wonder if internal politics with Iga will keep the KCET Sega Saturn additions (playable Maria, Underground garden, Cursed Prison, etc) from being added in to this version.

Having CastleVania:SotN is great for all those people who either missed the game, or don't want to pay the premium prices that a good copy of the PSX disc is running for these days.
