Considering how huge Achievement Points have become, in terms of hardcore gamers being very addicted to them, do you think both Sony and Nintendo will be forced to copy the idea behind a "Gamerscore" and "Achievement Points"? If you look at Xbox Live Arcade, and the Marketplace and Achievement Points and Gamerscore, and all of that, as unfortunate as it sounds for two competitors to blantantly rip off the idea of another company, I don't see how they can avoid stealing that idea
At first I thought the idea behind acheivement points and gamerscore and all that was kinda dumb, but ultimately people seem to absolutely love it. Some people are totally addicted to it. To the point of some people actually getting certain Japanese games just to get some extra points on their total.
Both Nintendo and Sony would have to have their heads stuck in the ground to not see that achievements and a gamerscore are very popular ideas. Of course they won't call them achievements, and they won't call it a Gamerscore, but you know damn well it will be basically the same thing. Same thing with Xbox Live Marketplace in general. How could both companies not copy the formula exactly? If either Sony or Nintendo doesn't copy it, I don't know whether I should congratulate them for not ripping off the idea, or consider them idiots for not emulating such a brilliant concept. :hmm:
