Wow... you don't see Microsoft or Nintendo talking about the Xbox 720 or Wii II, respectively, do you? Maybe Sony thinks there's no chance of them winning this round of the console wars so they're already preparing for the following one. LOL

Not crazy, just realistic. You've always got to plan for the future in today's market.

gotta be a joke.

Ya the PS3 leaves a bad taste in all but the hardest core sony fanboys mouths but way to early to be talkin bout this.
]
If they were even kind of serious theyd just scrap the PS3 and wait a year or two.... but that aint gonna happen.

Ok Ill add my own rumor... PS4 Retail PRICE OF 1900$ SUPPORTS THE DEAD MEDIUMS OF BLUE RAY AND 8 TRACK.

NOT JUST A GAME SYSTEM ALSO SUPPORTS BLENDER FUNCTION AND BURRITO MICROWAVE ABILITY.

the day music and games are downloaded and not purchased at a store as some form of permanent, ownable product, is the day i stop supporting both and downloading, legality aside. Why pay if what you get for paying is the very same thing you would get if you downloaded off some Napster type site for free?

Sothy you forgot the lawn mowing function.
I'd buy a game system that got rid of that cut grass smell... :D

Anyway, lol @ the Ted Stevens (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kv4vj_vlIOw) quote in the article

This is all because a guy said "I'd be amazed if the PlayStation 4 has a physical disc drive."? My dad once said that in the future we'd all have flying cars, but I'm not selling my truck just yet ... x_x

I was under the impression that there wouldn't be a PS4 after Sony goes bankrupt from the disasterous PS3.

I wonder how much longer it'll be before Nintendo is strictly handhelds or software developers?

You usually want to have the present in decent condition though. At least the PS2 launched before we heard about the PS3.

Quoted for the absolute truth. That was basically how Sega failed.

Note how he says NOTHING of the PS4 being in development. Its just a prediction, from a higher up, doesn;t mean squatt.

I wonder how long people have discussed this? And by the looks of it (developer and consumer polls) the Wii will kick major ass, so I wouldn't worry about it.

lol i cant belive that the actually made an article about it. Its impossible to say what happends in 5-10 years. Its like Bill Gates go out and say he speculate that Xbox 3 will use hologram discs. Well.. news is news, they have to fill the site with something hehe :)

Im sure the people at nintendo and M$ are pondering new ideas as well. It's not like they are actually working on the new thing, they are just pondering.

I doubt this will happen. As some of you said, this is just a thought of the future. People are too quirky when it comes to collecting video games. They want something they can actually hold onto to. There will never be a mediumless system that's successful. Sony has received so much negative press lately, it's ridiculous. I doubt the PS3 will be as bad as many speculate. Granted it may not be as successful as the 1st 2 consoles, but it will sell. There are enough people in the world willing to spend X amount of dollars on the next gen system to keep it up and running.

What I wonder is what the next form of media will be that's NOT a compact disc. IMO it's all the same. They're all CDs but in different forms.

Wasn't Kaz Hirai also speculating that PlayStations would eventually be all-download, as well? I know that some Sony bigwig was saying that some months ago.
