Here's a 16 minute GameCrazy training video. WARNING: It's REALLY tacky, and you'll probably want to smack Zelda Scott.

that store looked a lot like one of my nearby game crazy
The way those guys talked and dressed reminded me of a pre NFL game report show. That guy was totally whoring for gamecrazy to those customer setups, I know its acting but could hardly watch the part of it with a straight face.. LOL

Heh, I just applied there and have to go for a final interview on Wednesday. If I get hired and have to watch that, I'm going to request that the part(s) with the female are skipped. Mother of GOD that was horrible. I don't know if she shows up more than once, but once she said 'GC Posse', I closed it.

Wow. Here's a tidbit from the Circuit City training; during the parts where they're talking about shoplifters, two different song clips play at different points: Jane's Addiction's "Been Caught Stealing" and the Smiths' "Shoplifters of the World."

Wow. The video reminded me of working at EBGames. I really don't know how I managed to last a year there. Maybe it was me, I don't know. I'm a little on the shy side, so I can't go into a 10 minute sales pitch about how used stuff is so much better. Man, I hate retail. That's reason enough to go to college, in my opinion.
And Zelda Scott O_O . Not only is she a disgrace to the word "Zelda", but I just wanted to run at her full speed and strangle her. That was painful to watch.

Well, I understand what they were trying to do with that Zelda chick, in making fun of the now requisite "girl down on the field" component of sporting events (Lisa Guererro, Suzy Kolber). While Suzy Kolber seems extremely knowledgable about football, Guerrero was obviously just reciting lines and trying to "connect" with players during interviews when she did not in fact have any idea what she was talking about. Zelda seems to be an (admittedly very poorly done) satire of this.
My first job out of high school was working at Radio Shack, and this video reminded me of how much I hated working retail. I truly believe that working retail for a large company is one of the worst jobs on the planet. If I was out of work, I would much rather earn an honest day's pay by colelcting garbage or doing custodial work than being a retail salesman. Not because there is anything inherently wrong with the position, but because the worker is treated like such shit, and asked to (gently) psychologically manipulate the customer, when really there is nothing in it for the worker. I hate even going into game stores, because they start their routine on me the moment I walk in the door and don't quit until I leave. From asking me if I have brought in any games to trade when I walk in EMPTY HANDED, to trying to convince me to buy the used game over the new game, to trying to get me to buy the gameplay guarantee, to trying to get me to buy their VIP/discount card. It's easier just to either watch out for the great deals at Best Buy / CC, or buy stuff used on eBay and here.

And to think some people go to college and end up being retail managers. I have been avoiding stores like Best Buy and Circuit City just because you have to hear the sales pitch and get nagged by people. The workers at Best Buy act like snotty yuppies. I'd rather go to places like Target or Costco and not have to sit through the speech. Even better, buy stuff from individuals , Amazon, or ebay on the net. You don't even have to waste gas.

Word, dude. It's degrading to work in such positions (been there) and degrading to be subjected to it as a customer. ARGH.
But, in any of these situations, pretend you're deaf. Ignore them until they get real pushy and then make deaf person vocalizations when you talk to them. They won't waste time on pitches then. If he does, he's probably a manager. ;)

The video was removed from YouTube, but after seeing the GameStop video on selling to women (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=128563), I wondered if I could find this one again. Well, I did, and the link's in the first post.
Also, this video was filmed at a GameCrazy not too far away from me in King City. Notable games I've purchased there include Driver 2 for the PlayStation and the GBC port of Dragon Warrior III.

I'd love to watch that video, but I can't get it to run. The latest version of Flash Player (11.0) won't read Flash MX components on my Mac... :(

That looks almost *exactly* like the gamecrazy I spent 4 years working at, and yes... they really are that lame in company memos and other internal affairs. Besides the crappy pay, and being left to close the store alone- while being forced to take a 30 minute lunch break without actually taking one- it was a pretty decent place to work.
**EDIT**
HOLY SHIT- that woman that shows the guy in the football jersey the game at 6:45 was my old regional manager!

The guy at the end 12:39 used to manage a store in my district! This video really brings back memories, thanks for posting it! And if I'm watching a different video, thanks for telling me about it so I found the one I did watch :)

Epic. I watched quite a few ganky, corned up, and plain stupid Hollywood Video training videos, but this one takes the cake.
