What is it with the dearth of games this summer? If Dead Rising came out during the boom season of Sept. - Nov., it would get lost in the shuffle.

It's always like this. Developers save most stuff for the Fall. Still I think Summer should get alot more games than it does.
I mean look at movies, the big stuff almost always comes out in the summer.

When do people usually have alot of free time....T3H SVMM3RZ!
I hear ya.
It's so bad to be an Xbox 360 owner lately that I went out this week and bought a mini PS2 and 7 games just to tide me over until the 360 starts showing some decent stuff. Too much mediocre lately. I get to dig into Turismo 4 while I wait for Forza 2. I've been hungering for some good honest RPGs and the PS2 more than fits the bill in that respect until Enchanted Arms is released.

Why do people keep saying this about Dead Rising? It is a great game where anyone can pick it up and destroy some zombies and have fun with it. Plus it is a Capcom title, I highly doubt it would get "lost" in the shuffle......
Also, there has been an XBL Arcade release every Wednesday for the past 4-5 weeks now. And if you are a X360 fan, don't forget about LOTR: BFME II, Chromehounds, 99 Nights, Prey, and Saint's Row. Oh yeah, and madden and NCAA come out in summer too, (If you like that kinda thing)
There is always a summer lull, but it's not like there is NOTHING new to play. There were plenty of great games released and will be released this summer.
Well waddyaknow!! I popped in the new OXM demo disc to sample Saint's Row (incredible!) and guess what? On the disc there is an instant content download for your harddrive that allows you to play ALL of the currently backwards compatible Xbox games!! This is a Godsend for people like myself that don't have Live.
I'm going out today to scoop up some of my old Xbox faves. :D

Lets see for this is what I'd consider worthwhile purchases for each system so far.
PSP: Gradius Collection, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, Tekken: Dark Resurrection
Nintendo DS: Big Brain Academy
GBA: Summon Night: Swordcraft Story
GCN: Nothing.
Xbox: NCAA Football 07
PS2: Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, NCAA Football 07
Xbox 360: Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth, Prey, NCAA Football 07, Dead Rising
Yeah I'd say pretty shitty summer so far.

Just some to add:
Nintendo DS: Magnetica, Point Blank DS, Break 'em All, Starfox, etc.
GBA: Monster House (Yes, it's actually good. Just the GBA version.),

There was a few good games, but you are right. This Summer was very lacking on games. The only game I really bought was Tao's adventure. Which was not half as bad as some reviews say it is.
I have been buying mostly Atari 2600 and Playstation stuff so that does not really matter to me. It would have been nice if one last great games came out for the Gamecube though.

It's rare for me to buy games when they come out, as I usually wait until they're cheaper. So the summer drought means nothing to me.

Im going to go with Chandler piont of view and say that there are some pretty good/decent games out this summer , not a huge number but enough. hell the live arcade games are ive really been playing recently anyway.

Cmon, Capcom is a great company, but anything they put out doesn't mean popularity. Look at Killer 7, I don't think that sold well enough to warrant a sequel.

I know you already said that but I do totally disagree with you
Dead Rising from all I understand it's good enough to warrent a purchase
but to say it would have got lost in the shuffle is nonesense.
but I do wish there were more games released in the summer instead of mostly in the winter.

Right, but again I will repeat, it's a Capcom title. It will be marketed correctly, and reviewed everywhere, hence not getting "lost in the shuffle" it's not like it's a Majesco title or something....

Yeah, this summer drough is annoying (I want Diddy Kong Racing DS, dammit!), but I've been holding myself off with the N64 Diddy Kong Racing.
BTW, I entrily forgot about Zelda: TP when I heard about Diddy Kong Racing DS (Shows how much I loved DKR!)
