Well i've always wanted to play this game and never could until i got my first saturn about a week ago. Well now i have the game and the system but i'm a little confused about how to play the game.

I flipped through the manual a bit and have been playing the first level. I understand the fact that you have collect the blue spheres, i believe you need to get 20 of them and then go back to palace where Nights is. Well i've done that a few times and still havn't advanced to the next level. Is there more to it that i'm not doing? Also I find that clock thing that follows you around the whole time to be a real pain in the ass. I'd like to be able to enjoy the scenery a bit without worrying about it bumping into me and ending the game.

Well if any of you can help me out that would be cool. thanks in advance.

My memory is a bit fuzzy, but here goes. After collecting the blue spheres, you need to take them to the "Ideya Capture" (my spelling might be wrong on that). The Ideya Capture is up in the air and sort of looks like an octopus (don't know how else to describe it). You'll need to be NiGHTS to reach it. In fact, I'm not sure why you're running around as Claris or Eliot (which is why you have the clock following you). Just run over to where NiGHTS is and transform into NiGHTS. You'll be locked into basically a circular path through part of the level. Fly around as NiGHTS collecting 20 blue spheres, then ram into the Ideya Capture to destroy it. Whatever time you have remaining can then be used to score attack (make sure to avoid the palace where you transform into NiGHTS until the last second because once you go back there that part of the level is over, and you receive a rating based on your score). During the score attack you'll try to link as many combos of collecting spheres (now gold) and flying through hoops as you can (you can do various tricks and spins and so forth using the controller buttons to up your score too).

After I believe four routes through a level, as long as your average score is C or better, you'll go fight the boss for the level. The boss can usually be defeated by ramming it, grabbing and throwing it, looping around the boss and damaging it, etc. Getting to the end of the game is actually pretty easy, the whole point of the game is the scoring. It's actually very fun and relaxing especially when you find infinite loops to really boost your score.

Watching the demos could have clued you in on what to do.

Even without watching the demos, playing badly usually brings up a tutorial screen after the game is over.

Hey

Hope you have the analog joypad. It's much better at looping around things to capture them.

Before you turn into NiGHTS, take a walk around and pick up any low lying orbs you can get. Your time doesn't start till you turn into NiGHTS so this is a little bit of a head start. Some levels have orbs hidden on the ground behind things so you may miss them as NiGHTS.

Keep an eye on the orbs collected and as soon as you have enough fly through the capture. Then go back and collect as many more as you can keeping an eye on the time. You have to get back to the start point before time is up so always know where it is.

When you see yourself trailing a ribbon its time to do flying tricks. Do loops and try the shoulder buttons on the controller for different moves.

And another thing. The NiGHTS disk has wallpaper bitmaps you can read on a PC and some of the soundtrack can also be played on any CD player.
