Please don't lock this, it's a changing thread. What was under-rated last year may be different this year.

I'm looking for some sheap, underrated, maybe rare games. I.E. :
Rez
Gitaroo Man
Shadow of Destiny
ICO
Suikoden 3 (PRIME Example)

Etc...etc... Sleeper hit list basically. don't care about rarity, just wanna have some cheap fun that noone else is :)

I've heard about this one, is it a good SINGLE player? or are we talking strictly underrated multiplayer action?

Hmmmmmmmm

I agree on Suikoden 3, Rez, and Shadows of Destiny..but Ico wasn't a sleeper hit at all..got talked all up for months and high ratings too.

I'd add Mark of the Kri to that list. Innovative battle system, cool story, AMAZING graphics, solid game all around and it barely got spoken of.

I'd say add the following:
Super Monkey Ball 2
Sega GT
Jet Grind Future
Ikaruga

other than those... hmmm....

King of Fighters 2002
and lots of other Neo games!
(many coming soon to an import store near you! ... on DC, PSX and PS2)

Jet Grind Future? Do you mean Jet Set Radio Future? I agree that that one is WAYYYYYYYYY underappreciated! But Ikaruga has a HUGE following and tons of reviews too...not underrated at all. Same with Super Monkey Ball 2...wide market saturation. But Panzer Dragoon Orta on the other hand.....should have done amazing but it totally bombed! Now THERE'S an underappreciated game! :)

the two greatest underapreciated games of the last 10 years were Pepsiman and Tetrisphere..

Yeah, nobody gave Tetrisphere it's do. Pokemon Puzzle League for that matter.

I found Darkyned Skye for the Gamecube to be pretty underrated too. Yes, it's the Skittles game. But at least it knows how stupid that is and it even makes fun of it.

Wetrix (N64) - definitely underrated. Received some favourable reviews too.

Jet Force Gemini (N64) - love that from start to finish.

Definitely a fantastic game. I've probably spent more time with this than any other N64 game. Too bad the sequels (DC Wetrix + & PS2 Aqua Aqua) were so damn bad.

Was the DC sequel to Wetrix realy that bad? Damn! I love the N64 game!

I vote for Pandemonium! for Saturn and PSX. I haven't played the sequel yet.

Yeah, the critics loved Ido (me too) but I heard that it moved all of 70,000 copies in the U.S., which I think isn't a whole lot. I see it down at the Funco used for around $15 these days. Definitely worth it, I'd say.

Sub Rebellion for PS2,just came out a few months gao and I have only seen it at a few stores for $20.It is good fun and well worth the money. And any of the Klonoa game for PS1,2,or GBA,they are all great.

Klonoa--yes, yes, yes! I like shooting things. I hate platform games. But I love Klonoa, any Klonoa. I will import Klonoa beach volleyball one day. The whole Klonoa atmosphere is even more super-sugary-sweet than the giant cream-filled donut I just ate, but I don't care. When I'm not dodging bullet storms in a bad-ass death ship, I just want to hear Klonoa and Huepow squeaking at each other...

Good luck getting Klonoa: Door to Phantomile (PSX) on the cheap, though. Although maybe the "sequel madness" has died down a bit by now (i.e., a sequel to a low production game comes out, people buy the sequel and like it, the price on the original goes through the roof).

The DC version isn't horrible, just... super boring. Like Fantavision on the PS2, it's too easy, too boring, and after a while you're wondering where the hook is.

I just saw a countdown of the top ten most underrated games on a G4 show and Vagrant Story (psx) was #1.

Yeah, Vagrant Story is the best RPG on the PSX, as far as I'm concerned.

Best underrated games, though: Space Station Silicon Valley (64) and Blast Corps (64). Probably not rare, but both are wicked sweet games.

I have to second Blast corps N64 and mark of Kri ps2

Was the DC sequel to Wetrix realy that bad? Damn! I love the N64 game!

Sloppy control, poor visuals and no improvement in the sound department.

I vote for Pandemonium! for Saturn and PSX. I haven't played the sequel yet.

Excellent game! The sequel left something to be desired through.

I've got a couple of Xbox games that I bought really cheap (under $20) that I enjoyed more than I expected.

Circus Maximus
Serious Sam

I thought they'd both be horrible, but they're really fun games. Circus Maximus is one of the most originally unique games I've played in the last year. There's nothing else out there like it.

Another one I just thought of that nobody seems to have played is Rapsody: A Musical Adventure for the PSX. Fantastic RPG and I'm not a big fan of the genre. I really enjoyed it.

My picks, in no particular order:

Dance Dance Revolution
Guitar Freaks
Drummania
Keyboard Mania
Dance Maniax
Para Para Paradise
Beatmania
Beatmania IIDX
Pop'n Music
Pump it Up

You get the idea. ;-)
Oh, and definitely Turbo Turtle Adventure for GBA. It's like Chip's Challenge meets Monkey Ball. Wicked.

yeah, totally right about that, though i think the pc versions were far better (if u have a decent gamepad, that is) you really should play the sequel it's also really cool

Yup. The one player story mode isnt the best, because all of the monsters follow the same storyline, but the free for all and endurance mode are crazy fun.
