Is there a way to save this game..I opened it up to clean the game & there's a battery in it..

Yes you can save the game. I'm not sure what triggers the ability to save the game though (i.e. finish the level, beat the first bit, etc...)

I think after you create a save game, continue is available from the title screen.

Well...yeah. What else would the battery be for? ;)

The save option is in the menu (Other -> Progress Log). I'd hate to try to finish the game in one sitting (the entire game including the world rebuilding parts, just going through the action scenes with the extra game option after beating it once doesn't take long).
