Favorite Street Fighter Character (To Use)?

What's your favorite character to play as in the Street Fighter series? I wanted to give everyones character a chance and didn't want to have 70+ parts to the poll clogging up DP, so I listed it on Myspace. If I left out somebody, even if it's not your favorite post it here. And If you can't choose one, choose as many as you like and feel free to post them here.

Don't some games call them different names. If they're called something in one game and the person hasn't played one of the others, then I think that they need to be there.

Yeah, Akuma and Charlie are called Gouki and Nash in the Japanese versions. Sodom is only called Katana in the SNES Final Fight though.

I used to know all the moves for Ken on the arcade version of Street Fighter II but my favorite is Vega!

Then it might be better to list them with a slash (ie Akuma/Gouki). This way you aren't splitting votes for the same character.

I voted Ryu as my favorite to play...but when I really want to win I play as Honda or Akuma/Gouki.

It depends. If we're talking about modern day SF incarnations, my favorite character is Charlie. If we're talking about ye olde schoole Street Fighter, I'd pick either Ken or Zangief.

Wikipedia says that you can play as him. Also, I do not think that I can change the poll. I'd have to make a new poll and all the entries would be lost.

He's unlockable. In the Dreamcast version of 3rd Strike at least. I don't remember how, I think it was something like beat arcade mode on 8-star difficulty w/o continuing. But I definitely remember downloading a VMU save and using Seraphic Wing in arcade mode for the sheer fun of it.

I guess is his unlockable in the console versions of Third Strike. I can't believe I never sought that out.

If we're talking SFII, then Chun Li all the way, atleast back when I was younger. I remember being unbeatable with her, which resulted these kids getting pissed and turning the SNES off out of spite.

I started out with Ryu like most people, but Sagat is my choice. I always liked Mua Thai fighters, thats why Im a Bruce player in Tekken.

These days I suck at Streetfighter.

Umm, where's the Zangief vote. I'm suprised that there aren't more Z fans out there I know my bro like him. I'll see how he would vote.

Ryu, hands down. Ken is a close second but he's too slow for my tastes.

I voted for many different chars; I like Ryu, Ken Chun-Li, Zangief, Guile andSagat with the first incarnations of SF2. Ryu being the best of all those. With the Alpha series I still like Ryu, Chun Li, Charlie, Sagat, Sakura and Sodom. With the SF3 series my top votes are to Ryu, Chun Li, Urien, Yun and Dudley. With SF3 series, and mostly with Third Strike, there is practically no way to get out of a good Yun player who has mastered the Jenei Jin. There is almost no chance to beat a Good Urien player with a good Aegis Reflector setup. A good Ryu with a Denjin is very difficult to beat, you must jump or parry it, otherwise it is unblockable and you will get combo'ed very bad after that. Dudley is the character with the most stun damage of all, a simple 4-hit combo can raise your stun bar like 78%, also Dudley's combos are very damaging and with style. Overall, Ryu , Chun Li and Ken are the most consistent characters with all the SF series.

Ken and Ryu were always my faves, no matter what SF incarnation I was kicking @ss on. Got to give the edge to Ken for the American Hollywood style though. 8-)

Grew up playing as Ryu, and it's still the same so #1 = Ryu. Guile is second.

Surely I can't be the only Balrog fan here. I haven't played any version of SF after the SNES/Genesis, however.

I like his character but it was really hard to win matches using him. No kicks or projectile attacks. Balrog was probably the only character I could never beat an early day SFII game with. He is a lot like Shang Tsung in the earlier Mortal Kombat games, pretty hard to beat but it sucks to use him unless you have really mastered him. Ken was my favorite. The color of his uniform put him over the top, compared to Ryu.

Resurrecting this thread because I was about to post it myself.

Personally it's still all about Ken, though I sometimes play as Ryu. Yeah, I'm plain vanilla but I'm not very good at the game and with these two I know all the moves.

I think any Street Fighter 2 PRO, and I mean PRO. Can agree that Balrog (US version) is an absolute powerhouse and when used properly, can dominate ANYONE.

Depends on which game. For SFII games, I use guile, ryu, or dee jay.

SF III; 3rd strike, Ryu is the only character I know how to use. Sean comes at a distant second.
