If you were to create your own kind of game, what kind of game would it be, and what would be some ideas that you could come up with?(granted you aren't an acctual game designer already). I'm gonna post my idea later on, but if anybody wants to share any, I guess here would be a good place (not sure if this thread has been made).

-I think I posted this or something similar to this a while back...the game that I would make would be a combination of many games, done in the style of old consoles (but played on, say, a PS2). For example, one level would be a shooter that starts out like an Atari VCS shooter (say Demon Attack...not exactly that game but something similar), and then preceding waves are played on more powerful consoles with the requisite graphic/gameplay/control style. In the final wave it is like a PS2 shooter, and if you beat that wave you unlock a real console shooter (sayyy Life Force or Raystorm).

-Along those lines, maybe a game that is a combination of different games for different consoles, sort of like Wario Ware, but real games. It would go something like this:

Level One:

stage 1: clear a VCS Pac Man screen

stage 2: finish a Dragster screen without blowing out

stage 3: with three strikes get at least a base hit in Mattel Baseball

stage 4: clear the first screen of Colecovision Donkey Kong

stage 5: clear the first level of Vectrex Minestorm

etc.

-Of course, the ultimate game for all of us...a collecting RPG where you can actually play the games you find in the game. Oh I could go crazy with this one.

I'd make a generational RPG a la Phantasy Star III. I thought that system was so cool and I'm amazed nobody else has used it.

I've also always wanted to defy all RPG convention and allow you to bring every character you found in the game into the last fight. Instead of only having a 4-man party, I'd just let you bring all 10 characters into the last fight.

Or I'd be the world's most cruel developer and make the final boss insanely difficult EXCEPT that he has a fatal weakness... to the butter knife you came equipped with at the very start of the game. If you sold it, prepare for hours upon hours of levelling up to beat him! Oh I wouldn't authorize a strategy guide, either.

Or I would have the story line force the player to sacrifice one of his or her characters (in a 4-character only game like FF1) near the end of the game.

I've also wanted to make a vertical-scrolling shmup where your fighter had 4 wings, and you could open or close them to give yourself either more firepower or more maneuverability. Imagine your hand is your ship... point all five fingers forward- that is maximum firepower- the tip of each finger is a gun. Spread your thumb and pinky out- now you have two wings and three guns- a balanced approach. Now spread all your fingers out and you have 4 wings and 1 gun- maneuverability.

I would want to make some kind of an RPG preferably turn based that is similar to earthbound in a way. I'd say more like the latest Shadow Hearts game. Have it all be in a realistic looking world where you have your own house and family and all that, like a middle class 9-5 worker and have every day get stranger and stranger until as you progress, your daily life around you slowly turns to hell and you're surrounded by demons and hellish nightmares. To the point where you walk inside and your wife's eyes are glowing red and is cooking the family dog for dinner after you get home from work. Then by the end of the game you come to find out you've been dead the whole time and you've actually been living in hell and have to find your way to a happy afterlife. I'm talking gruesome and mind bending evil in this game. It's hard to explain now but if i wrote it out completely, i think you'd get the gist of it.

Just think of putting yourself in the position of a middle class 35(ish) yo male and your party members could be the ones that have also currently gone to hell and are also trying to figure out how/why all these things are going on. Then put some kind of combo system in it similar to valkyrie profile, and u got yourself i nice little RPG. Since it would take place in a surreal version of a suburban town in America, you could even possibly find ways to incorporate racing/sports (think tennis courts and baseball fields)/platforming/and even throw an arcade in the town somewhere to play minigames and you got yourself a solid rpg if executed well enough.

For a while now I've wanted to see an RPG made in the Genesis/SNES era style, and since it would be on a disc of some sort it could become one of those "War And Peace" length adventures. Maybe have a level system up to 1000 or something. And have it packed with just about everything from dragons and cave crawling (a-la Final Fantasy), to Goomba-ish cute baddies (a-la Super Mario RPG), to hitting hippies over the head with a baseball bat (a-la Earthbound).

With scenes that could be turned on and off in battle, like when you perform a magic attack and get an anime-esque scene of executing it, and a simple-yet-interesting battle and magic system, along with smooth graphics (I'm thinking smooth like Final Fantasy III) and however many hours of gameplay that can be squeezed into such a disc, and that would be awesome.

Oh, and couple that on a single disc with a brand-spankin'-new, AWESOME side-scrolling adventure the scope of which gets people away from Super Mario Brothers 3.

And yes, I've thought this out. Just need to start writing it and find a programmer and artist or two. :D
