I heard around that its actually done but there is a means of which console to port it in but of course there are rumors that work against the ideas of us ever seeing the sequel.
It seems that people are saying that a script to the game actually exists. Or that its even completed.

I think there will be. Someday. It might not be as good as the first 2 but it will be released. I wonder if Yu Suzuki will be even involved with it?

According to Suzuki-san himself, there will be no Shenmue 3. EVER.
It cost Sega too much and was an abysmal failure on both systems the previous versions were on.
I still think the MMO idea is a good one for a game of this genere.

Its too late for a third game now. It was the most expensive game ever developed at the time, and perhaps still is. And for a third game they would have to totally rebuild the game engine for next generation hardware, which would cost a fortune. The first two games got critical and long time gamers support, but they didnt get the mass market appeal sega undoubtably hoped for.

I doubt that it will, it has been too long since the second one and the first 2 weren't popular so what would be the point?

It's been years... I'm really starting to doubt the possibility of us ever getting Shenmue III.

I hope someday it comes out, or at least that someday there is a conclusion to the Shenmue saga...
Does anyone know how sales for the game were in japan?

The Dreamcast and Xbox both bombed in Japan, so I'm guessing not that well.

there will be Shenmue III - maybe not very soon, but nevertheless, its one of the best franchises out there, and Sega will make it eventually.

I've pretty much lost hope that they ever will.
