fennec fox, that's who. I got #5 in yesterday (the 1990 buyer's guide) and that officially wraps it up!

Nothing further to say, really. Now, on to Game Informer...

WOW!!!! Awesome man. That is a sweet collection. Man, those early issues must have cost you a grip. I'm very interested in having the first 150 or so issues of EGM, and I'm missing about 30 of them right now. Unfortunately, the majority that I'm missing are from the first 20 issues. I think I only have like 2 or 3 of the first 20 issues.

Hey, if you have any doubles in the first 23 or so issues, I would love to trade some mags with you. I've got a number of doubles for various mags. I've got first dibs on doubles!!! :-P

As I've mentioned a number of times.. I got every single issue including the offshoots. How? I bought em friggin off the newstand since 1988! :P

Well actually I'm lying. I kind of stopped KEEPING ones as of maybe the past 3 or 4 years.. it just got ridiculous. And especially with the free subscriptions these days, I just end up tossing say... EGM's from 2003 for example.

and that officially wraps it up!
Do you have the issues of "Electronic Game Player"? Cant say you have all the EGM's unless you got those. :)

I don't think any of these were costly so much as they were difficult to track down, especially (as you said) the first 20 issues. I've been looking for that 1990 buyer's guide for years and had to trade a bunch of stuff for the one I finally found. I've heard from folks who were around at the time that Sendai's distribution was pretty crap in the early going; apparently most subscribers didn't receive #8 at all, making it particularly uncommon.

I have one EGP. :( And I think I bought that one off Joe Santulli actually. I don't think the mag was ever distributed anywhere near where I lived at the time.

You trust that ferret not to relieve himself on your mags?

I'd personally be happy to have EGM magazines up to issue #65.

I'm mostly there but alot of what i need are the early issues which i know will be hard to aquire.

Congrats man, I love old school EGM and have the entire 1993/1994 set, along with many from 92. This magazine was SICK.

How many issues total with the special issues? Does it include the EGM2 issues?

Ggreat collection. I made the mistake of getting rid of my mags years ago now it'll cost a fortune to get them back...espeacially the CGW's...

if I told you that I have two of those, and had no idea you were missing it, would you be sore with me?

Meh, collecting magazines is too hard, and really, it's pointless.

I do have a sizable collection sitting on my shelf...I save every magazine I get. I haven't paid for a subscription to EGM in years. Actually, I don't think I have, ever. Yet I've got every issue from 2002 and onward. I think I've got a subscription going until 2017. Thanks, Internet.

Nice one, how many EGM issues in total?

Man, think of all the games that could fit in that space...but you know, articles (and the accompanying official artwork) are always fun to have, even ones with errors.

Nice collection man! I discovered EGM back at issue 12, so thats where my collection began from. I still have every issue from 12 all the way till, I think, 1998. I still love reading the early ones but towards the last years (that I have mind you), I had always felt Gamefan was better at that point (then THAT mag also got worse imo). Magazines just ain't whats they used to be I's tell ya!

My enthusiasm for collecting and reading magazines seriously started to wane as soon as I got the intarnet. Also, when I got my first job, I was getting stacks of free game mags and it became insane trying to organized like 8 or 9 mags a month and make space for them. So now I just limit myself to stuff with a focus (old Nintendo Power, Turboplay, Sega Visions), or from a certain era and back (everything pre PS2).

I have stacks and stacks, and since I stopped working at gamers.com, I don't think I've ever had a reason to go back and research with them.

Any old school issue's from the golden era of gaming from any magazine I'm a sucker for. Nice collection. You should scane some of them for us.

Yikes, that's such a shitty magazine. Why not try to collect VG&CE instead? I used to buy (or steal off the newsstand, in some cases) all the video game magazines that were around back in the early '90s, so I had boxes and boxes of EGM, GamePro, Game Player, VG&CE, Game Informer, GameFan, etc. At some point I got rid of most of them except the EGMs and MegaPlays and--for some unexplicable reason--the GamePros. I can only assume that I meant to keep my VG&CE back issues and toss the GamePros, but got confused. VG&CE was in many ways the best of the bunch back then. EGM certainly had its strengths--nice pictures, rumor mill stuff, Japanese coverage...all of which was later done even better by Diehard GameFan as someone else in this thread pointed out--but VG&CE had so many great articles and columns that were just all about the enjoyment of games themselves rather than the consumption-oriented appreciation of them that most of the other mags were devoted to.

...word is bondage...

I've been trying to get the first 20 issues of EGM, and I've got around 8-10 issues or so. Anyone got doubles to offer to sell me?

Well, I'm collecting them all... ;) I "completed" VG&CE when I won a complete set in the auction at CGE...2003, I think? I'm glad I don't have to chase all those down in the wild, because they used pretty cheap paper stock for the covers so a lot of them are all torn up.

As of right now EGM encompasses 207 regular issues and around a couple dozen specials.

Boy that would be a nice trip down memory lane. I would love reading the review sections and see the funny and sold out over hyping of

Crash bandicoot
Way of the warrior
Toshinden
and Tomb Raider.

One trivia question Does anyone remember the Letter of the month from Habib the torturor? I think the mag was egm.

I don't really know why this one stands out but when I think of egm this name pops out.

Did you buy insurance for them? I think you should, they're just papers...

Not complete.. but I got most! A lot are in pretty bad shape though from me reading them too much sitting in the bathroom as a kid LOL

I think mretrogamer(?) over at AA has a complete collection of them.. but he pretty much collected them in recent years.

I have every issue of EGM and EGM2 (and its spinoffs), along with Gamepro, GameFan (and its spinoffs), VG&CE (and its spinoffs), Next Generation, and most other mags (current and OOP).

THat's pretty nice! I have a bunch of early ones (including the 1990 buyer's guide), but I didn't subscribe in those days so there are lots of holes between then and the 32-bit era when I started subscribing.

Man, I'd trade them all for a few more Electronic Games issues!

Jeez, I was kinda proud of my 7+ yr-solid (no missing issues) of EGM going back to 3/99 (#116) but after seeing some of the posts here... X_x

Nice work, fellas.

Meh, collecting magazines is too hard, and really, it's pointless.

Huh? I often find meself going back to my collections to re-read reviews, features, rating comparisons, etc. At least it's something to take to work to read on breaks...or the crapper.

I've currently got my wife looking for certain back issues of OPM & PSM for my birthday just around the bend!

I like to read the old issues to point me to games I have missed. Also sometimes the advertisements point me to cool accessories that I did not know existed. Some mags, espeacially Nintendo Power, had posters in them that can be cool in a game room.

They do tend to make me more knowledgeable of the scene as well.

The only thing good about that magazine was SeanBaby's reviews on the last few pages. They always cracked me up LOL
