LOL, for close to 200 pounds worth of shipping, yeah, 120$. And that is the flat rate also, we didn't sneak in any crazy handling fees.

All the guides weigh 150 pounds total. Shipping through UPS is anywhere between 100$ and 200$ for a package of this size.

Thanks for the attitude, but it wasn't asked for. If you don't have any questions, or interest, I would appreciate if you just didn't respond at all.

Media Mail?

Media Mail?
I was going to say that but it was going to sound like I was making fun of him... So I did a little research. Shipping 70 pounds costs $25.89 - so shipping everything would've been around $70, boxes and additional fees included. HOWEVER, there's three problems with that.
* One, the size of the packages. They would have to be split in multiple boxes because there's a maximum size you can use.
* Two, the standard "Some Postal workers will not ship commercial stuff via Media Mail" problems we've discussed in the forum in the past. This depends on the post office, some won't mind shipping commercial guides via Media Mail, some will.
* Three, the fact that the boxes would take AGES to arrive, especially if they're headed to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or Alaska.
UPS isn't the cheapest thing available, but in this case I understand why he used it. I don't -like- it, but I understand it. Hope you're not angry at me.

Thanks Kitsune Sniper.
Yes, when I first posted the lot I assumed UPS would be the safest and most practical way to ship such a heavy product. My buisness partner and I later discovered how much cheaper media mail was than UPS, and we wanted to give the option to people who would rather have it shipped that way.
Now please, humor me. Could any of you see yourselfs considering the lot if the shipping was around 70$, and came in multiple packages(media mail has a 70 lb limit)? If this auction doesn't pan out, my partner and I were considering reposting the lot offering media mail shipping, as we know the extra money is a lot to pay for what we are offering. Let me know if any of you would be interested in this.

I think the cost of shipping is going to scare most people away whether it's justified or not. In fact, the shipping fee alone is more than I'd be willing to pay for the lot of them.
I think you'd have more luck selling them if you broke them up into smaller lots but that's just me.

There were a lot more guides then there are in that lot that I have been selling this week. The problem is, I am in somewhat of a time restraint so I have resorted to selling the rest on ebay. I figured some reseller might be able to make use of them. For 400$, 160 guides is a pretty good deal. Although I do agree the shipping price is a little scary, so I will consider using media mail if this auction doesn't work out.
Thanks to everyone who posted their ideas.

I buy large lots on ebay all the time and I think the factor of shipping plus auction cost is way too high for a reseller, which I am assuming is your target. A reseller is going to factor shipping into their amount to pay, so offering media mail bascally gives you a lot more money. Most resellers want to double up on lots like this, so if you keep the lot together, keep that in mind that due to few high quality titles, you are going to get about half (this is counting shipping in) of what you would if you seperated it out individually and did the work yourself. The problem is you have very few premium titles there. I do not feel like adding up the numbers right now, but even if you offer media, I highly doubt you will recieve any bids on the lot. I would lower the starting bid more, perhaps to $150 and lower shipping then let the bidders decide what they want to pay. Hope this helps.

Hi new user here. :)
I have a lot of strategy guides laying around and I always list them on Half.com whenever I get a new one. Of course you have to sit on them for a while until somebody buys one, but you can usually get $5/guide + shipping via that method. Anyway...just a suggestion if your lot doesn't sell. Good luck.

Sorry, but absolutely not. I've been buying items (video game stuff and non-VG stuff) in lots to resell since '98. Your opening bid + $70 shipping means I'd be paying a little under $3 a guide.
Ideally, the reseller wants to at LEAST double up if you are dealing with low cost items like this. That means I'd need to get $6 a bid/BIN, which simply isn't going to happen with those titles. Frankly, a lot of those titles are unsellable.
About six months ago I bought a smaller, but very similar lot of strategy guides for $1/each (no shipping because I picked them up in person). I know it's not what you want to hear, but that's the highest price I'd be willing to pay for a mixed lot of strategy guides.
