i'm thinking about picking one of these saturn games and while i'm sure they're both great games i can't exactly afford them both. so which one do you guys think is more worth the money? i know it's my decision in the end but some input would be nice as i've never played either game.

Well, it was Gamefan's write up on Guardian Heroes that sold me on buying a Saturn back in '96. GH was my first Saturn game.:pimp:
Here's a little vid to remind how great this game is:

Damn...that's a tough decision. Depends on what you're looking for.
Awesome co-op game with TONS of replayability = Guardian Heroes
An amazing RPG to play by yourself = Panzer

Yeah, the two games are totally different. Not only does Guardian Heroes have a co-op action mode, it's also a multiplayer fighting game. You and up to five of your friends can wage all out war on each other. In that mode you can select from 44 different characters from the action part of the game (I think it's 44).
Panzer Saga on the other hand is a lock-yourself-in your-room single player RPG like no other. Only a decent sized T.V. (27" or better) and a surround sound stereo really do it justice. I found PDS to be more engrossing than any other RPG I've ever played, with even Lunar 1 for the Sega CD being a distant second. If you really want to blow your mind, learn the fundamentals of how to play the game sober and then eat some shrooms. The colorful visuals, psychedelic patterns and game content will melt your brain. I've never felt like I was "in" a game more than with Panzer Saga, shrooms or not. The fact that the dialogue is in Japanese (English subtitles) just adds to the overall feel of being in another world.
So I guess it really depends on which type of game you like better, especially since you picked the two best examples in their genres.

I much preferred PDS myself, and I'm not even an RPG fan. It's a better collectible too.

As an owner of both, that is a tough one...
In the end, I believe GH has more replay value, and is one of the most fun beat-em-up and multiplayer games you can get. PDS is truly an epic game that truly sucks you into a beautiful and bizarre world, and is highly deserving of all the hype it gets.

I own both too. I prefer PDS although both are excellent and unlike anything else in their genres. I suppose it comes down to whether you want an RPG set in the Panzer Dragoon universe or a Treasure styled beat 'em up.

I've got both and I'd say that PDS is the best game one time around but GH has more replay potential and is better for multiple players.
They are hard to compare, really... but I voted PDS.

Very tough question, I own both and love both (two of my top 10 favorite games). I give the edge to Guardian Heroes because you can play it has so much replay value. Great title to play with friends to. Its one of the few titles that everyone can pick up and love it. Amazing game, but so simple. Why they do not make more games like this is beyond me.
Panzer Dragoon Saga is my second favorite RPG behind lunar silver star story, such an engrossing game. Once you get the basics down and get a couple hours into it, you will not want to stop. Such a beautiful game, so far ahead of its time. Well worthy of its price tag and all the hype.
You can't go wrong with either game, but for the overall experience, I have to vote guardian heroes as it has infinite replay value and its a game you can play with friends.

Moneywise, go grab Guardian Heroes, you can get more playtime and pay less. But you must get PDS later, it is one of the best and unique RPG's of all time. All in all, you must have both. Period.
Its not Japanese they are speaking in PDS, but a lanuage that is composed of 3-4 different languages, Latin and Japanese being 2 of them.

Based on my personal preference, I'd go with Guardian Heroes.

Guardian Heroes - on the basis that beat 'em ups are better than Japanese RPG's.

They only speek Panzerese in the intro, the rest of the game is in Japanese with english subtitles...compared to Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon Zwei, where the entire games were in Panzerese.

Both are great games but I would have to say Guardian Heroes becuase of the CO-OP feature. One of the few games that I can get my wife to sit down and play and actual enjoy it. She says she loves the music in the game.
