Is the text supposed to be like this? Or do I just have a different version?

*EDIT: For some reason the pictures werent showing up?

Its definately not the text that is supposed to be for the american version. I'm not sure if the text is japanese or not, but looks like it. Are you asking this question because its in a standard North American Cart or do you have the import? The boards for japanese carts fit in the same place as american carts.

Ok I also realized that it has the Japan names for some of the fighters.. Like M. Bison = Boxer, Vega = The Dude with the cape, and Balrog = the guy with the mask.

Why does it say SNS-XW-USA on the cart though?

Im not sure if its the North American Cart... it looks just like every other SNES game I have, and It's SNS-XS-USA on the label? Could I tell by looking at the board?

May I ask, where you purchased this cart?

There is a pic of a SSF2 board for America. And the only two matching Amer/Jap carts that I still have SF2 and Lock On/Area 88. The board are almost inpercievably identical. SSF2 has 9412 CB writen on the D411A chip and that maybe the only difference on the boards.

The SF2 cart that I have may have a different board because its a later SF2 version. I have yet to be able to figure out how to tell a later version of a game other than from the product code. I know it has something to do with the embossed number on the back of the cart but I cannot interpret the numbers without knowing what they mean first.

Wild, could be a mistake when originally being put together...any signs of someone trying to open the cart?

None that I could see. I bought it from someone parting out their collection. Or so the auction said.

Strange, my friend has the same exact thing. A japanese game inside the USA cart.

Well, I don't know where to go from here. The D411A chips have different writing on them like my Lock On/Area 88 cart. Did you buy anything else from that seller?

Nope, just this one cart... :/

On the two bigger chips do they start out with SHVC on your cart? Because I notice that all of the JPN versions have SHVC and the US have SNS? or something like that. (It's kinda hard to tell from the pictures)

Nope, they are SNS-XW-0 P0 and P1. What are the stamped numbers on the back of the cart?

Are you sure? Right next to the IMPORTANT on the left side of the back label.

Yep, I double checked a few other carts to make sure I was looking in the right spot, theres nothing there.

Its not unheard of not to have it but I could have cross referenced it with my cart to tell if it was the same version/run.

I can tell you with almost certainity that it is a japanese board switched into an american cart though I don't know why anyone would want to it unless you had one good board and one good cart Or maybe the most likely the PO wanted to play the import on an american console and didn't have any other way to play it. But again, if you have the american version, why play the import version more than once or twice? Its pretty much the same except for Vega, Balrog, and Bisons name being changed around to the other character.

This definitely happens more often then not. I have a Monopoly for N64 that has the monetary units in Pounds Sterling and all the names changed!

do you think there is a possibility that the game is a bootleg of some sort?
