Over at the shmups forum, they seem to be pretty sure that MLF is a renamed Gunburd release, and there's some speculation that MLF2 is a renamed Shikigami No Shiro release.

Those covers are hilarious. I'm sure shooter fans love knock-off art of Charlie's Angels and Dangergirl.

All the same, I'll be on the lookout for "Mobile Light Force." If these two really are Gunbird and Shikigami, they're both better than either Gekioh or Sol Divide, so, in theory, this puts us one step closer to getting a domestic PSOne release of Dodonpachi. And if that happens, there shall be dancing in the streets.

Or Mobile Light Force 3. If they want to get around to releasing all the shmups over here, they can number MLF as high as they want as far as I'm concerned. With the same three ladies on the front of each one, just changing the background explosions. For $10-$15 apiece, I'm in like Flynn.

Five years from now, shmupos will be able to instantly identify a shmup by the three ladies on the front of Mobile Light Force 28.

Something unpleasant just occurred to me: what if XS removes the conversations and endings from Gunbird, just as they excised the story scenes from Sol Divide? Poor Gunbird would lose all of its personality, and I, for one, am fond of the game's goofy little plot.

Domestically released Dildopatchi for PSX? I should hope not. The import version played decently, but it if you've played the arcade (MAME) or even Saturn version for any length of time, the PSX's piddling 2 mb of ram can only handle half of the animation. It's akin to playing Marvel Super Heroes on PSX. Hmmm. No, wait. Nothing is THAT bad. Ok, ok, it's like playing Metal Slug X on PSX. Playable, but just not the same without the fluid animation.
