Well, this is the first retail 360 title (meaning non-XBLA) that I've been interested in since launch and it's supposedly out today. I thought about blowing this neat little $50 EBGames gift card on it, until I started reading some reviews/player feedback on it. Has anyone here picked it up and/or played it yet? Any opinions? Is it a good time, or really just a shallow, boring, button-mash fest?

Meh, I played the Demo on XBL. Looks like Dynasty Warriors to me, maybe I am missing something but it looks like the same thing again.. Maybe someone with the full game can say otherwise...

I enjoyed the demo (you can get it on Xbox Live), and planned to get it at release. However, I read reviews that said it had some major problems that have made me hold back. This is something I will probably get when it drops under $30.

I also played the demo and thought it seemed better than what the reviews suggested. It is a lot like Dynasty Warriors, but I happen to enjoy the DW game for the 360. Its alot better than DW in my opinion. Way more people on screen at once, level/character customization and whatnot. Some moves will take out 50+ people at a time. I haven't played the full version but I am interested in it despite what the reviews say because I enjoyed the demo and wanted to play more.

I loved the demo - but it's getting horrid reviews. And everyone is saying 'It may has well been slapped with the Dynasty Warriors name, because thats all it is.'

Sorry - I loved the demo, and I love me a good hack n' slash. I'm buying...

And some of us have never played a Dynasty Warriors game....

I completely forgot about downloading the demo - I'll do that tonight. For the record, I am a fan of the Dynasty Warriors series, though I did tire of it after the 4th game.

Since I'm a fan of the hack-slash genre, I'll be picking it up once it arrives.

It's almost identical to Dynasty Warriors, except with a fantasy setting and much cleaner graphics. If you're a fan of DW, then N3 is a good pickup. If not, then I'd avoid it until the price drops.

I liked the demo, a good ole Hack and slash that feels a bit more fresh then DW. For 50 bucks I'll probably pick it up.

The reviews of this game have been a prime example of the one thing I hate the most about game review sites: reviews that focus largely (if not entirely) on what the game ISN'T, and not about what it IS. I've heard plenty about what this game doesn't do or what it does wrong, but I would LOVE to hear about some of the good things. I might be alone on this, but it really pisses me off.

As for me personally, I never got into DW (thought I was always told I'd love it), but the demo was definitely my cup of tea. Seeing wave after wave of enemy come up over a hill, while a bit repetitive, was always a thrill. I'll be picking this one up.

Yeah I am waiting for mine to come in the mail from Outpost.com. I got it for 40 bucks so I figured I will give it a shot.

Didn't Famitsu give this game great reviews?

I know it got, at least, one '10'...

This one looks interesting, but obviously bad press has keps me from plunking down 50 beans on it. I like hack n slash, but have never played a DW game so I really have no idea how I'll like this one.

I'll definately give it a rental though.

Personally, I thought the demo was rather average. The presentation, in particular, was very rough around the edges, and the overall look was just so very dull and drab. Use a little colour next time, eh? It is really quite surprising, too, as this is from Q Entertainment of all people!

And I had actually been looking forward to this. I probably would have bought it on a whim had I not played the demo (and regardless of the reviews). Considering that this is nothing more than a mindless hack 'n' slash, you'd think they'd make the already quite limited experience a little more spectacular with a bit of polish.

Okay - I bought the game, and it's not as bad as the reviews make it out to be. It's still far from perfect, but it's still enjoyable.

I'd give it about a 7/7.5

Cons as follows -

-Voice acting is bordering Resident Evil 1 awful. Especially most of the female voices.
-Popup galore
-No Japanese dialogue option
-Having to do an entire map over again if you die (no checkpoints)
-The timing of some of the cutscenes. Say you just killed a boss, and it left behind a sweet item. You have about 1 second to try and get it before the cutscene (or the mission ends) interrupts and it disappears.

I will say this game reminds me alot of Gauntlet for some reason.

I enjoy it. I was going to buy it BEFORE I played the demo, but after I played it, I only wanted the full game MORE. It is what it is... a hack n' slash. Nothing more, nothing less. Its exactly what I wanted, and expected. I have yet to give it a lengthier play, as I'm trying to finish up Kameo, but the first few levels have been lots of fun. Huge combos, stylish kills, RPG-ish upgrades, great music, hot chicks with angel wings... its all good in my book.

Its NOT deep, overly pretty (though the cut-scenes are nice), or an original story. But its a game that delivers what it promises, and that's good enough for me. My friend played through it in about two days, so I guess its short, but I have yet to get the first achievement, and I've put in three or so hours. So either he's super fast, or I'm super slow.
