I live near this and I was thinking maybe I will pick it up... can the monitor be fixed? and what is it worth?

I'd say $150-$200 would be a good price... installing a cap kit and turning down the brightness would probably fix it. If you can't do the cap kit yourself, you might stay closer to $150 since paying someone to do the cap kit for you might not be cheap (those monitors are sorta a pain to pull apart, so I'd expect to pay ~$80+ to get someone to do a cap kit for you).

I never enjoyed DK 3 so I wouldn't give much for it personally.

The key question to ask here is "do you like this game?" If not, or not really, then you may not want to bother. Wait until a game you really enjoy comes around.
If you are a DK3 fan, then I pretty much agree with DogP. $200 tops, monitor is definitely salvagable.

Good advive from Dog and Ninja (isn't that a Heart album?). Just wanted to throw in my two zenny on DK3 - excellent game. Also, it's not entirely correct to say that it's 100% original -- it's a Donkey Kong machine (as evidenced by the inclusion of the DK manual and blue cab) with the DK3 kit installed, IIRC DK3 was a kit only game. Still a very good find IMO, especially if you can snag it for less than $200.

BTW the screen is an easy fix, looks like the screen voltage is turned up too high :)

I decided to wait.... I think I really want a Playchoice 10 so I can have multiple games.... and then I will pick up Donky Kong, Mario, and Frogger.
