At one point there was actually some talk in releasing not a cover with a player on it, but Team covers for the different markets. I kinda wish they did, and then am glad that i'm not going to be forced to buy 3 bazillion Madden 07 games for different inserts.

You could just wait 2 years and get them each for a buck if you were a collector. Atleast there wouldn't be so many copies lying around all the game stores. If I ever ran one, I'd say NO dated sports games, at all.

I can't believe that their art department is wasting their time and money making garbage like this. At least make one for each system rather than some generic art.

Looks like all they did was post their promo art boxes for each team. I was expecting a nicer looking retail-like replacement. :roll:

I thought EA did this with the hockey game recently. Mats Sundin was on the cover here (in the Toronto market), although I don't remember which year it was.

Mind you I could be totally wrong and thinking of something else, in which case the lesson is, as always, I'm an idiot.

To my knowledge the only reason that there has been 2 covers for any of the NHL seasons (NHL 2004) was because one of the cover players was killed in a car accident. But since the publishers are semi-forced to make dual language inserts for the games I'd not be surprised to see a Canadian cover on something.
