The PS3 logo...amateur? (Big Pics) Sony Marketing flaw?

Guys, lets first reminisce about the awesome logos, Playstation has given us. Shall we? Also, I'm not a Sony fanboy, actually I like Nintendo on fun-trosity (if it may be a word) but the technological innovations of Sony, there's a DS Lite in my hand, and a PSP in my pocket ;)

Ah, the classic swervy PS, a true intro to 3D gaming, with what, a 3D logo...classic, and to represent Playstation and Sony thusforth. Cool, and wideknown.

Ah, the PS2, slightly futuristic in look, and sleek looking, with the nice metallic/indigo blue. Great and attracts attention.

OK...Playstation 3 logo...Woooow(/sarcasm). Just black text with some preloaded text? Boo! And is it me, or does this text practically ABSOLUTELY resemble the text of 'Spider Man (X(variable))' in the movie poster/logo. Sony really err...underwent themselves logo-wise, once again I say...black text with already seen text. No color, no catchy-ness...

Well, Sony is bumping itself in marketing, logos count. Anyone agree, showing flaws upon marketing, or such? Is Sony's rants of techno-savviness just being underrated with ignorance to such tender and small details. I don't want any fanboy rants, or negative comments, any of that or the casual: "SONY ROXORS NOOOBS< LSDFLKJDFSLJKDSFLJKSDFLJKSDFLJFSDLJFDSJLSDFJLSDFL LOLOLOLO~`!`!`!`!12!!@1@1211212", Or anything that with Nintendo, I will request locking, discuss away.

You know that they still use the 'PlayStation' logo on top of the PS2 and PSP logos right? Sony has deemed that logo as the PlayStation 'Family' logo, so weither or not its a PS or PS2 or PSP or PS3 game, that logo will appear too to denote that its for a Sony System.

Oh and the PS3 logo is just them using their Spiderman/Spiderman2/Spiderman3 font. Its not the best, but hell do you remember the reaction to the announcing of the Wii name? Same kinda thing, sooner or later the font issue will die down... oh wait it already has since they've announced the PS3 price and general lack of available units and all that jazz.

Just read up on that :) . Well, I guess the reason I bought my Genesis was that nice Sega blue logo, but I guess it just be up to the fanbase. Can a mod modify one of the poll options to: Nah, Sony will get through anyhow.

I added the option in, but I don't think I can take one of those positive ones out without taking em both out. Either way, its up there.

Yeah, I thought of the Spider-Man movie font when I first saw it too. I like the old PS2 logo- high-tech, simple and to the point.

About the quote just above me, it was a retorical statement (if there was such a thing) to help prove a point. Why I really bought it was that I can play Sonic 3, seeing ALL my friends playing it. :roll:

I always thought they were going to change the logo, but honestly it seems like its not happening. Oh well I never stayed away from a system because of its logo, however I think this one was really porrly designed by sony...

Personally, I like the PSone logo. Nice and simple and goes with the tiny little system quite well imho.

I personally think the PS3 logo is pretty nice, except for the "Y". The PS2 logo wins, though.

For what it's worth, I didn't much care for the PS2 logo when I first saw it. Seemed kinda bland to me. After awhile, though, I guess it grew on me and I kinda dig it, although I have to be honest I was hoping for something a little different with the PSPs logo.

So far I dig the PS3 logo more than I first did the PS2. What I dislike most about it is it's length though. I like smaller logos better.

(And no, I can't believe I just wrote two paragraphs about something as stupid as a logo either...)

On the topic of Spiderman and Playstation, since Sony actually make the films, i find it wierd they didnt make the games themselves, and release them exclusively for PS2. And since their blatently using the spiderman font for the PS3, surely there should be a PS3 exclusive game based on the third film.

I bet you there will be a bunch of original PS1 logos on the packaging for the PS3. Logos have nothing to do with anything in my eyes, all I care about whats inside the box.

That isnt the official pre-loading screen or logo, is it? I doubt Sony will have a logo that shows the console itself. We'll see soon enough anyway.

Really, it's not the font it self, but the sense that it feels...incomplete in some since. It's like it's always been a prototype.
