Hi guys,

I just bought a new Sega Mega Drive 2 system off of Ebay. The link is here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180017094701&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=008

Anyways, I was looking around and there is no instance information on the model that I just bought. Im sure you guys here can help me figure this out.

I carefully opened the box, and the contents were completely new. The system has a blue button and the cartridge port has red/violet colored flaps.

MODEL NO: MK-1631-16
RATING : DC 10V 1.0A

SERIAL NO: AE 0076241

I did a little bit of research and I could only found 1 other system being sold with the exact model number. The system was sold in Argentina, and here is the link: http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:Cb1sSoPCDdYJ:articulo.mercadolibre. com.ar/MLA-19981290-terrible-consola-sega-genesis-a-un-precio-inesplicable-_JM+%221631-16%22+sega&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=2

Also, very curious note, where it should say "video game console" it says: "video game con ole" (the 's' is missing).

Any clues? :)

Thanks.

That's an Asian unit.

OK, so that would be this system: http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=20546

It is just a little weird not finding this model number anywhere online!

Thanks a lot!

Yeah, that's the one. I'll note down the model number for the next time the Genesis section gets updated ;)

Actually, there were a few different types of Asian releases - some are NTSC, some are PAL, some have boxes similar to the JP version, others (like yours) look more like the PAL box, while some later ones have a unique box style of their own. Needless to say, it all gets a bit confusing...
