My source? Internet message boards. Yeah, really reliable. But the rumor coming out of some retail sources state that black (and pink!) DS Lite colors will be arriving on shores on Sept. 10th. New colors are certainly feasible, especially with the DS game tsunami gearing up with Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon coming out a week later.

Interesting, though I'm not exactly holding my breath waiting for the pink one. ;)

I just ordered the wife the Noble pink one from Japan for her birthday - I didn't have the option of waiting dammit :)

Ya, I waited awhile to buy a DS because I figured they'd come out with a better handheld version, thus the DS lite. I waited months for its release to find out us Americans were only getting a white at launch and possibly other colored versions a month or so later. Then came several weeks of waiting to find out it would be many more months before the alternative colors were released so I went ahead and purchased the white one. I really wanted a light blue or navy but the importing would be too much more than to just settle with a domestic white. I'm alright with it now but damn I wish they had these others released instead of having issues. :/

I just bought a DS lite monday. I dunno if I should return it and wait a couple weeks for this one. Ugh.

Ok, after doing what I should've done in the first place, read my recept, I can return it through 9-20. So, I'll just hang onto it, and exchange it when the black one comes out. Go me.

I wouldn't mind owning a Black DS, so I might pick it up if I have extra money laying around.

Now if a Green DS comes out, I'm sold.

Whew - I just spent 2 weeks in the U.K. talking myself out of buying a black DS.

The £99 price tag did most of the talking out of, but the shiny picture on the box was really putting in a good pro-buying pitch.

Why just Black and Pink? :hmm:

Yeah, I can see why they did pink, but I want a color one, not Black. Technicall, Black is all the colors being absorbed by the casing - thus it is 'all' colors, not one (Yeah, I'm a geek to some extent, deal with it). No appeal to me at all! :(

You may want to verfy that information about the black color comment. Black is the absence of all color, while white is what contains them all. But that is dealing with light and and I'm not sure if it carries over to pigments.

It doesn't carry over to pigments. Black or Key as refered to in CMYK is indeed the product of the combined primary colors RGB or CMY in printing. Though since the primary colors do not create a true black, a pre-mixed black ink is often used.

White is the absence of color in the printing world. Since the DS is a manufactured product, the plastic moding was most likely colored with dyes, and more specifically CMYK ones.

So essentially the black DS is all the colored ones mixed together :)

That being said I bought my white DS Lite day one and would not trade it for anything. It matches all my Apple stuff and I could care less about colored variants.

Disappointing - disappointing indeed. Wish I had held out. Oh well - at least I got a skin for my white one. May have to pick up a black one at some point, too...

WOO!

Cool, it's a different shade of pink than the Japanese one (Coral Pink vs Noble Pink). I would be a bit irritated if I just spent a lot more cash importing one from Japan to find it here next month! :/

So who's going to collect all the different colored DS lites? Expensive now but we all know they'll eventually be cheaper and with the networking quite sweet.

DS Lite Black avaliable in September in USA?

It´s a surprise for me.

I think DS Lite Black is avaliable in Europe only.

In Brazil, the video game websites noticied a stole of quantiy of DS Lite Black.

Very people in the forum poted replys about this fact and called maybe the DS Lite Black is avaliable in Hong Kong shops in Asia and Paraguay shops in South America.

The release of DS Lite Black in USA, is a good notice for me because two reasons:
- I´d like the color Black
- in Brazil, several companies imported consoles and games from USA and Japan too.

I´ll be waiting for 13th September, date of release of DS Lite Black.

I still do not understand why people are hating the white color for their DS so much.

To be honest, having a choice of black, white, or pink... I would go with white.

White just looks stylish... I love it. I wish we had a white PSP on our shores as well. Before the DS Lite came out I was considering importing the Pearl White DS from Japan.

Black = a lot of fingerprints for you to see
Pink is well.... pink
