Has this ever happened to anyone? I find it happening to me again.
I got sucked into the N-Gage, Zodiac, and Gizmondo a while back and stopped collecting for almost anything home console related save for a few Brazillian SMS systems. I'd really slowed down the past year or so for almost everything.
Now all of a sudden I'm back to the N64... a system I stopped collecting for well over a year ago when I realized I had over 40 or so games to go, no more room to store the boxes, and at least 10 of the supposedly complete games I had very actually purchased from Blockbuster and had no instructions.
Now I'm buying again... like one a week off ebay.
Strange? :hmm:

No, I don't think that's strange at all. That's basically how I collect. I get all into one of my collections and start buying up games for it, but then I'll get tired of that one and move onto another one. Sometimes I am on a Genesis kick, sometimes Atari, sometimes PSP (like now), etc. I find it easier to collect if I just focus on one system at any given time, though if I see an awesome deal, I'll snag anything regardless of what system it is for :D.

I stopped when I had 280+ VCS carts, sold the lot, now I'm re-collecting and realising all the stuff is mostly available UNBOXED.
Actually, I do stop and start with software for any system, as there is always another piece of hardware to aquire. Bang, there goes the funds!!!

I was well over 400 NES titles, then sold them. Didn't really 'collect' any for a long time. Now, I find myself buying a couple here and there every week.

I've stopped collecting many times. Sometimes I've gone for several months without buying (or playing) any games at all. Most of the time it is due to temporarily getting bored with a particular system, so I'll switch off to another for a bit, or sometimes I just indulge in other hobbies/interests. Either way, I always ending up coming back. :)

Actually, the Saturn has laid dormant for years, and now I'm going hardcore to finish it...minus the Net Link edition of Daytona....only 38 or so games left. ^_^

I find that my collecting habits are currently tied to my WoW habits. If Im playing alot of WoW, I don't buy any other games, barring really good deals at major retailers. If Im taking a break from WoW, I find myself thrifting, shopping Ebay, and really collecting for the NES, 32x, TG16, and 7800.

I mildly collect for a bunch of consoles like the SMS, 32X, 7800 and the Channel F. However, my heart is always towards completing the NES, SNES and N64 libraries.
Every so often, I'll stop thinking about the Nintendo stuff and pick up a few games here and there for the consoles I listed first (the stuff I don't really collect for).
I'll usually buy a few games for each console and then think to myself "Wait a second, why am I buying games for these consoles? I should be buying Nintendo stuff."
So then I'll stop and go out and buy stuff for my Nintendo consoles that I need.
I don't know, it seems to happen every couple of months for me.

A few years ago I decided to stop collecting altogether and sold off my whole NES collection - 128 games - many of which I had complete - boxes/manuals/maps/etc. Held onto Genesis, PS1 and PS2 though. Now, I'm back into all and am realizing dumping my NES stuff was a huge mistake as everything seems more expensive and is much harder to find now...drat! I also move from system to system playing a bit here and there - am collecting for:
Coleco/NES/SNES/GENESIS/Dreamcast/PS1/PS2

Since I have a lot of systems it seems I always focus of 3 systems at a time. After I get tired of looking at the same systems I change it up but the 3rd system is always Sega related. It all depends what mood I'm in.
