View Full Version : Ever send the wrong game to someone?

Today I was packaging two sealed SNES games. After I taped one box up, I immediately realized I had put in the wrong game! So I changed it before mailing them off. It reminds me of when I first got started. It was March 2001 and I was doing one of my earliest trades on GameTZ. I accidentally swapped RE and Legend of Oasis. It only happened to me once, and that was the one time. Since then, I've packaged 100's of games, but today reminded it could happen any time you take your eye off the ball so to speak. (I was busy listening to the radio and thinking about other things while I was packaging)
I'm just grateful no harm came out of it.
Anyone got any similar stories?

I mixed up WWF DVDs sold on ebay last year. The buyers were both very understanding. They each agreed to send the DVDs to each other. I paid for shipping of course but one of them decline to be reimbursed.
Just goes to show that most people are decent. And even if you screw up then honest and quick correspondance can make up for some errors.

Hey G good to see you. Yeah man I haven't been around much b/c my bro gave our PC a virus July 17, and it's still in the shop, his IT engineer friend apparently is having trouble fixing it so we'll take it to my uncle's friend who is more experienced. In the meantime I am regulated to 1 hour daily stints at the local library. It's not so bad, but I do miss the 24/7 immediate access. I'll be back full force soon enough though... hopefully by early September...

No but I've received the wrong game more than once. I'm not big on return shipping so I usually just throw the "wrong" game in my trade box (if its equivalent or greater value of course).

I've also been sent the wrong game multiple times, all from GameTZ trades. None of the traders ever gave me a hard time about it, as I was able to just send them back and get the correct game.
I've been sent extra stuff from eBay auctions three times, which was super nice.

I mistakedly switched PAYMENTS one time a while back for two Ebay auctions where the sellers wanted Money Orders. One guy thought I was crazy but both sellers worked it out and it ended well.
I bought a complete copy of N64 Transformers (rare) off Half.com one time and the seller sent me the common PSone version. I sent it back and he sent me $5 for the shipping. He didn't have the N64 game.

No but like Kid Ice, I've received the wrong game once.
I bought a copy of Wizardry II for the NES off of somebody and the accidentally sent me Wizardry. When I got the game, I informed the seller (which is pretty hard to do, because you feel bad that the person is going to have to make up for it somehow).
He was really nice about it, re-funded my money ($7 or something) and let me keep the game. I kept insisting that he keep half of my money because I felt bad, but he didn't want too.

I sent an entire Turbo Duo to the wrong person (same first name). I agreed to give him shipping plus a little bonus if he shipped to the right person. He agreed, but never did it. Asshole. I have his name here somewhere but I'm too lazy to dig it up.

That's why you make invoices and tag them to the specific items. I've mislabeled boxes before but figured it out shortly after - usually like a half second after the tape has gone down over the address label. LOL

Nope, but Someone sent me the wrong game once. Well...not exactly. I won a Ebay auction for a sealed Jungle Strike for the Snes, and the guy made a mistake and sent me Jungle Strike for the Genesis.
I told the guy it was okay and I would keep the game and I gave the guy positive feedback anyway.
About 2 days later, I got an email from the guy and he told me because I was so understanding even though he goofed, he was sending me the game I asked for for free and an extra game.
Sometimes it pays off being nice.

So he ended up keeping the Duo? What about the guy you were supposed to ship to?
One time I did send the wrong game to a person. Yeah, my fault but part of the problem was a non-paying bidder, from a separate auction, who still had not paid me after four weeks. He was the one who ended up with the game because his info was listed first on my "sold" list in My Ebay. I was in a real rush to ship before the PO closed and just took that address down, without verifying it. Too complicated to explain, beyond that. I eventually got the item back and sent it to the right person but ended up not making any money on the transaction since it wasn't a high-priced game. The only shipping error I've ever made out of 200 something transactions on my record, on Ebay and off. The guy who received the game in error knew it was coming, since I'd warned him days before, and still opened the package. Asshole. Explaining that one would be another headache. He never did pay me for the actual auction he won, either.
