I just bought a brand new Samsung 23" LCD HD TV and was wondering what type of cable I should use to get the best picture possible?

What ports does it have? Component, DVI, VGA, and HDMI are your choices most likely, and it entirely depends on which of those you have.
What are you hooking up to it?

Not directed at you alone, but we desperately, desperately need a video resource thread stickied.
Best to worst (modern consoles):
Component (red, green and blue for video)
S-Video (sharper than composite)
Composite (yellow cable for video)
RF (welfare connection)
Someone please elaborate on that with all the technical jargon and make some sort of uber-thread for video. This sounds like a job for.....I don't even need to say it...we all know the man for the job.

HDMI will be the best with PC/Component next.

Yeah we do.
Anyway use component with your modern consoles, s-video with the older ones and HDMI with your dvd player (or component if it doesn't support HDMI).

What system are you using? If you're using an Xbox 360, and the 23" Samsung you purchased is the glossy white one, the native resolution of the video panel is exactly the highest output offered by the Xbox 360 VGA cable. (13xx x 768)
If that happens to be your setup, use the VGA cable set to the highest resolution. That's what I have and it is stunning.
