I have been thinking about picking one up, but wanted to hear from some people who own or have played the Supergrafx system. Is it worth getting? I realize there are only 5-7 games for the system and some are big money.

I would basically be getting it as a collector/ gamer. I am just so undecided. Are the games any good? Will it play PC Engine import hucards? Should I save my money up for a Neo Geo?

Any input is appreciated.

There's a LOT more you can do than play 5-7 games, my friend.

The SuperGrafx is compatible with ALL of the PC Engine library. That's over 700 games in all! Check out our lists in the "Rarity List" section from the link bar above the forums here.

The SuperGrafx is often overlooked for this very reason. Everyone assumes it just handles the 7 games that are specific to it, but it's really just a high performance PC Engine.

If you can get it at a reasonable price, get it.

well, it is either the supergrafx or a TG-16 converter that will allow me to play imports. I am watchng a couple of auctions right now. Thanks!!

Everyone needs a Duo. You're missing out on all the SERIOUSLY KILLER CD games if you don't have one! Or at least a CD Rom attachement for the TG16/PCE. But a Duo is easier.

Maxlords has a point. There are some excellent CD games in the world of the PC Engine and all associated systems. If you do get a Super Grafx, you'll also need a Super CD Rom2 adapter, as well as a PC Engine CD Interface Unit. Or you can opt for the Super CD Rom2 attachment. These are pretty rare, so the interface unit is probably your best choice from a financial standpoint.

This is so true. if you're gonna game in the tg16/pce family, you'll need the CD drive in one form or another. Just playing Ys books I+II, Dracula X, and Winds of Thunder is worth the price of admission ;)

Hmmm Do you need a Super grafx system..

Well i have one, boxed mint , but i dont use it, its for my collection, i generally make do with my Duos and Pc engines to play games... i dont own a specific Super Grafx game yet, but i will pick them all up shortly. even then i dont know if i will use it for playing.

So im my mind, having a Super grafx is not essential but nice as a collection item :)
