Xbox Action Replay--do you have to have the disc?

I called a local pawn shop the other day and asked if he had an Xbox action replay. He said yes, but then he searched for it, and said he couldn't find the disc.

My only use for the thing is to softmod the xbox, so I'm really only interested in the hardware (which the guy will sell for $7.50), but I wonder if it requires the disc to operate in "cheat mode", or is the disc simply a codes bank?

Nah, you can get the software online no problem (I believe they have the latest version on their website anyway). What you need is just the memory card->USB adaptor and the memory card.

Install the software, transfer the save over, and that's the last time you need to bother with it :)
