Was Mappy released for any home system (I know Mappyland was released for the NES)? I remember playing a really cool "arrangement" in the arcades, but I don't think it or the original ever got to an home system.

Hi, i played Mappy in a Famicom clone here and also i have the pirate cart, so...i think Namco released Mappy for any home system.

It was included in Namco Museum 2 in both Japan and the US, and I believe it was released on a Namco 3-in-1 Game Boy cart as well.

Yes, the game was definitely released by Namco for the Famicom. In addition to what has already been mentioned there was also a Game Gear port.

It was released on the Nes and Famicom but I think there was also a sequel for the nes or famicom but maybe I'm thinking of something else.

I have only seen Mappy for the NES on the 31-1 cart.
Is THAT the same version if you were to go buy the legit copy?

Cause I notice in my old Archie comics, many ads for Mappy Land on the NES, but the screen shots they show in the ad look nothing like the one I played on the 31-1 cart...

But then, it's quite possible that the screenshots are just "artists renderings".

Are you sure that wasn't Mappyland? That's a different game altogether.

I have an import Sega Game Gear version of Mappy by namcot/namco 1991.
As far as I know it is almost the same as the arcade version. Mappy was for me the reason to buy a Game Gear!
It rocks!

I have the import one for game gear and it's sorta like the other mappy games only it's more longer and has bigger levels.
