i recently picked up a complete copy of this game for a buck...

but i'm wondering what region it was sold in! it clearly is a "genesis" game, so europe and japan are pretty much ruled out as it's not "megadrive"

but the back of the box insert is in 8 languages, as is the manual. also, the manual is sideways like i've seen european sms games (are megadrive games like this too? never really looked at one).

any help would be appreciated!

greendog est eun Ungl0cklicher Surfer LOL

With 8 languages on the box, it must be very hard to figure the origin. What about the product code/ serial?

well, it DOES have a sticker on the case with a different UPC than on the actual box insert.

sticker UPC: 010086010335 (i think... my sticker is a little torn)

box insert UPC: 069044010352

That does seem strange. My US copy has different back art and it says at the bottom, "Developed for use in North and South America (except Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay)". Also, mine has the "Official Sega Seal of Quality" on the front. Don't know if Mega Drive games had that or not.

Assuming it is not a pirate cart (does not appear so), my guess would be Canada or Brazil. It must be of European origin (English/German/French/Spanish/Italian/Swedish/Dutch/Finnish text), but perhaps it is re-branded for sale elsewhere?

if it was of european origin, wouldn't the box insert read 'megadrive' instead of 'genesis' ?

gamewise, what did you guys think of it?

It was one of those generic platformers I felt... I really wanted to like it and it's kinda neat in a few spots, but overall I couldn't help feeling there should be something more to the game(play)

Yes, it should. Your copy seems to be identical to the European release, except with the 'Genesis' name instead of 'Mega Drive'...an odd variation...which is why I suggested perhaps it was re-branded for sale in Canada, Brazil, or some other country (presence of a UPC sticker seems to indicate that). It also could be a pirate, but that seems unlikely. I really don't know what you've got there...I'm not really an expert on the Genesis/Mega Drive, but I'm sure someone here will know. Where exactly did you find this?

I used to have a ToeJam & Earl like that; when I got the game again a few years back I thought "wait, why isn't the manual in eight languages like my old one?"

I'll toss my hat in with another vote for Canada. Any Canadian collectors who'd be able to say for sure?

It's most likely from Canada. I don't collect Genesis but most of my games look like that one in the picture.
