View Full Version : Looking for Rastan SMS review in 1989/1988 VG&CE magazin

Hey all,
I am looking for the VG&CE with the Rastan review for Sega Master System. If somone has a collection of these magazines would you mind letting me know which month and year it is in?
It has to be in one of the following 1988/1989 VG&CE issues:
1988: please check ALL issues of this year.
1989: Please check JAN, FEB, MAR,MAY, JULY, AUGUST, and DECEMBER issues.
Can somone please check these issues I listed above for a review of Rastan and please let me know what you find.

SMS Rastan was actually reviewed in the January 1990 issue of VG&CE. I'm such a sad nut for VG&CE (my favorite VG mag) that I knew exactly which issue it was in, although I had to check to make sure of the cover date. :) Got a bad review btw...5-6 across the board.

SUrprising it got a bad review. I thought that the SMS version was a very faithful arcade port personally.

I never would have guessed that the review was done in 1990; I thought the game came out in 1988 or so. I'll have to search around for that issue now.
I have the Gameboy issue of the Rastan review and now I know which VG & CE to look for.
Would you guys also know if EGM reviewed the game as well and what issue it would be in??

They did review it. IIRC they gave it around a 6/10 and it was in issue 2.

Thank you everyone for the information. I am currently looking for the EGM and VG&CE magazines that you have mentioned.
If you guys know of a magazine review of the Arcade version of Rastan, please let me know. After this, I am through probing you all for information. I promise!

Those reviews are cool from the Sinclair and other magazines.
I've got one more question for you guys.
It was either in a EGM or VG&CE(maybe Gamepro?) magazine. It was in a section about upcoming games. There was a small picture of Rastan Saga II(the pic was of Rastan on the first level near the beginning of the level) and it read:" Rastan is back again in his second adventure", or something like that. It was a pretty short description. It seemed to me that the page was an orange or green color. It also contained alot of other games on the same page. Can you guys let me know if you can find this one. I'm basically trying to aquire some of the old magazines I remember having as a kid.

Whoa, awesome. If anybody spots any Contra or other shooter game stuff (especially games from Konami - i.e. Sunset Riders, Jackal), let me know, I need to find some media!

I could never understand the hype of Rastan, I love the SMS and all but that game is way overhyped in my opinion!

Scratch Super C, found that. As well as some other interesting stuff. Although if anybody has other mags...yes please!
I'll give you a review.
Rastan is my favorite game on the Master System. Awsome gameplay, awsome graphics, awsome everything. 10/10
