View Full Version : Exploding Super Mario 64 Waffle cone
remember them?
Six exploding Choc Waffle Cones.
The best bit is written underneath:
"Amazing...a real 64 BIT explosion in every bite"
Oh how we laughed.

lol. I don't remember ever seeing those back in the day. Some ice cream trucks still sell mario and yoshi popsicles, sonic too I think. I remember getting Mario soda from safeway, one of the flavors was luigi blueberry, and they had princess toadstool something, and of course mario. And there was also Mario World Mac n Cheese from Kraft!

Yeah, honestly. I think I'd be too scared to eat an exploding waffle cone. Even if it did have Mario on the package.

What does a 64-bit explosion actually taste like?
Vanilla?
Strawberry Quik?
Whiskey?

Maybe they crunch really loud, hence the name. Whatever the case, I was expecting a foam ball ice cream cone shooter. I loved those things. 'Couldn't ever keep 'em away from the damn dogs, though...

Never even heard of that, but it looks like it would taste decent. :-P Nintendo did make many wierd items, like the Shower Power nozel and the random mathematical books called Nintendo Adventures (I only have two).
Some background info:
Purchased in the UK at the time of the release of Mario 64 (obvious) from Safeway. Box says 'Made in UK', so probably no USA release by all accounts.
Also had a Waffle tray box with waffle cones and some other goodies (can't remember), which came in a bigger N64 style box. Haven't got that one anymore :-(
Cones were nice(ish) chocolate, the explodings bit were coins (and other items from the game? Can't remember)made from 'Space dust' candy kind of material (70s candy you put on your tongue).

Its like Pop Rocks. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_Rocks)
When placed in the mouth, coming into contact with saliva, the candy breaks and melts, releasing the carbon dioxide from the tiny 600 psi bubbles, resulting in a popping and sizzling sound and leaving a slight tingling sensation.

smells like poop...of the marketing variety
Oh, and I would be scared to eat something that Mario's wrapped his legs around. *imagining Mario riding an oversized waffle cone down to the point of impact, Dr. Strangelove-style*

Now that would be an awesome flash game or at least a hilarious flash animation.
