I just got a copy of this game for Free yesterday, I know what the game is andwhat it does, but how rare is it really? The copy i have is complete with large cardboard box memory card and link cable. Does anybody here have one? And what are the chances of getting one in the wild like i did.

There are alot of Pokemon games out there, but im guessing your talking about some Gamecube version? Im not into Pokemon so i dont know that much about it, but i know that none of the games are rare. Rare or not, you got it for free and thats great :)

If it's the US version, you're looking at least $80 on eBay here...

I don't own one (I don't collect Gamecube or Pokemon stuff), but the rarity of this title comes from the fact that it could only be purchased directly from Nintendo. Out of all the Pokemon titles, this 'game' is certainly the rarest, selling for north of $100 on eBay. Getting any game for free is good in my book, but this was an especially good find.

This is one of those games a really freaking want, because I would USE it, but it's zomg rare so i'll have to pay crazy cash for it later on. I *tried* to buy it from nintendo, but everytime i HAD the money to buy it, it would be out of stock, and when it was in stock i didn't have the cash. 8(

on the upside, i can just run a burn of it, but damnit, i want a real copy someday.

Man, I'm glad I ordered one a couple of years ago from the Pokemon Center. I hadn't paid attention to the price or availability since.

The european version as well or only the US-version (guide's not working at the moment...)
If the euro version is rare I'm probably going to hurt myself...

Nope, Euro version is quite common and not worth that much. Ditto the Japanese version. Only the US version (because you could only get it from the Pokemon store in NY or online at the Pokemon website before it was discontinued) is worth anything.

Yeah I bought it when it was released because I would actually use it, there's very few US copies out there anymore.

Rare? Really? I bought this while I was collecting from Pokémon Center because I figured it would be rare some day.

The reason this game is so rare is because it is possible to get some strange and interesting Pokemon with it. For every - I dunno, 500 characters or something - that you dump in this thing from one cartridge, it will give you an egg that will hatch a rather common Pokemon with some very uncommon and unusual moves.

Just for hooking up the thing one time, it gives you an egg that hatches a Swablu with False Swipe. This Swablu has been the single most useful thing ever in playing the games, IMO - most of the guys who get False Swipe don't also have a status move that inflicts Sleep, Paralyze, etc. But Swablu has Sing, of course - so finally you have a character that can get guys down to 1 HP and then Sing them to sleep (which is the best status effect move for catching them). VERY useful.

Later they give you a Zigzagoon that knows Extremespeed, a Skitty that knows Pay Day, and I think the last one is a Pichu that knows Surf.

This is probably why the disc is in such high demand. The list and organizing and storage features are OK, I guess - it is kind of useful to be able to store so many Pokemon - but the real benefit are those extra eggs.

I would love to get it just I am to cheap to pay for a copy because of how expensive it is.
