I've recently acquired a box full of Lightspan Adventures educational software for the PlayStation. WTF is this? A search on eBay for Lightspan Adventures returns nothing.

They're in disc sleeves. Here's some of the names of them.
str.at.e.s.
Timeless Jade Trade
K9.5
KazMania
Timeless Math
Cosmic Cookoff
Faire Games
The Quaddle Family Mysteries
P.K.'s Place
Calamity
Math on the Move!

I've got a lot of them. They all say "For educational use only--not for retail sale 8-)

Are these worth anything?

There's loads of info on Lightspan discs on the web, tons of it right here on Digital Press... you can start here for some good info that later becomes an ugly battle.

By the way, if anyone is looking for particular Lightspan titles, PM me. I have a huge boxload of these. Literally hundreds of them.

So wait, were these released in jewel cases or in sleeves? Since Xizer says he got them in sleeves...

I think they were released in sleeves, the sleeves look official to me.

Anyways, neato! I might just buy some from Joe if I ever feel like filling in some of the gaps in this box.

And Iron Draggon is a jackass in that thread. What the christ.

I wonder if the PS2 is backwards compatible with these. I'm going to go try right now.

I second contacting Dangerboy, he was really cool to deal with when I got him a game he didn't own. :)

Say, that's not a bad idea. I wonder when he'll hop on AIM.

Sigh. I wish I wasn't still banned from the digitpress IRC chat or I'd just catch him on IRC. I guess I could always get a proxy, but meh

They were released in sleeves predominantly. Some and I say 'some' early early early ones came in Jewel cases, but were quickly re-released in sleeves.

For one to be 'complete' your looking at a disc, a sleeve and a 1 page description/title card that would be in the sleeve.

There have been variants to these discs, however most of these variants were just adding some info and a barcode to the disc. Nothing much to note otherwise.

Unfortunately most of them really arn't worth all that much 2-4 bucks a pop. Even before they really started to sprout up all over ebay they wern't worth alot but were pretty rare. However since they've come out of the woodworks like they have, almost all of them are pretty easy to obtain. There are just a few series that are rare and I don't think any of the ones you listed are part of the rare bunch.

If your looking to get more, don't forget that more means right in the range of 100 total titles. I'm personally sitting at 89 titles and I know i've got a bunch more to go.

Check the link here for example of the few early (and Stu is correct, we're talking pretty fucking thin) jewel case releases.

I didn't know these existed until I won an auction a long while back and the seller mentioned he'd "toss a few in" that weren't listed.

To this day I have never seen the jewel case ones since.

Though thinking about it, I'm beginning to wonder if they may be fan made...the games they are for were not the earliest releases, which wouldn't make sense. It may also explain some inconsistencies...except...it has all the proper developer item locales and blank descriptors....but....
