View Full Version : My game was stolen
jajaja

Today i recived a thin envelope from France. Im waiting for a few games from there so i had no idea what it could be since it was so flat. I opened it and what do i find.. a note saying:
"Hello, thanks for your game ha ha ha!!! One that works at the post office"
Man.. i was so pissed! If only the game was missing it would be "ok" but when the fucker is so fucking rude and replace the game with a note i get incredible mad! I seriously wish i knew who it was so i could get the fucker to lose his job and get a bad reference.
So many people who works at the sorting center so its impossible to find out who did it. Might be the mailman for all i know, but i doubt that. Ive recived probly 1000 packages and this is the first time i've experienced or even heard of something like this. I will for sure report it to the postal service. Thought of police too, but i hardly doubt they will do anything about this. The game was Mike Tyson Punch-Out smallbox release. Loose only, but this game isnt that easy to find. Cost me about 10 euro, but its the principle.
Have anyone else experienced something like this? :(

does it look like the box was ripped open and then re-sealed? Maybe the seller did that?
jajaja

I thought about it, but the "stamp" shows 4.93 euro so its right for its weight. If it was only a note inside the postage would be cheaper. You could clearly see that the envelope had been opened a 2nd time. The seller used some tape with letters on it (commercial stuff), but i can see that its been taped with clear tape over it.

Yeah its sounds like a seller to me as well. Check the postage ammount does it match the weight of an empty envelope?
jajaja

I just checked up on the prices. If the seller shipped the envelope with the note only it would be about 50 gram. The postage on that is 1.90 euro. The envelope had one of those "sticker stamps", i assume these are printed at the post office. So the package must have been heavier when shipped since the sticker said 4.93 euro.
I will fill a complaint during the next days and update here if anything happends. Might take months to go through a case like this tho :(

I sent a game to Germany a few months ago and the buyer claimed that when he opened the package, a bunch of death metal cds were inside instead. :hmm: I had him send me a pic of the cds and the package. The package didn't look like it had been opened and the bands were all German (thanks Google), so either the buyer was trying to scam me or somebody at customs was having a little fun.
It's possible somebody at the post office swiped it, but it's more likely you got scammed.

It is a possibily. The note was written in my language (altho not 100% right spelling), not in french or english. I thought maybe some online translator had been used. But on the other hand, at the sorting center here alot of foreign people are working, so that might explain the wrong spelling. I have a feeling that this is where it was stolen. I know this isnt the first time mail gets stolen there :(

Man... that SUCKS.
I'm betting it was the seller, too. He could have taken the game and some paper and weighed it and then bought the stamp for that, then slapped the stamp on an envelope weighing much less. Open and re-seal the envelope and THEN send it and you've got yourself a nice scam. Watch his Ebay account is all I can say.
I think the PO is REALLY strict about employee mail theft but you could file a report and see what happens... maybe some dumbass thief at the PO really did do it. A REALLY dumbass thief. Just who works at the PO and steals stuff and then leaves a note saying that the game was stolen by a PO employee? I'm still thinking the seller.

Ye, its totaly bizzare.. I really dont know what to belive. Like why would a guy at the sorting center leave a note? Maybe to make sure that the seller/sender didnt get in trouble? Its is clearly a twisted guy who wrote the note, so why would he care about that?
Those shipping sticker, how do you get those? I always asumed you only got those at the post office when you where helped. Can you buy them from a machine or something?

why would someone at the post office tell on themself? that's just dumb.
obviously it was written by the seller to divert attention from themself and attempt to put the blame on someone else

Indeed, but jeopardizing your job for a 10 euro (~$13) game is also incredible stupid, still some people do it. There are sick people out there so you never know :(

What i would also do is contact every buyer of his you can and ask them if anything similiar has happened.
Use the completed items by seller function to get a list of buyers, including those who didnt leave feedback yet. Ask the buyers who have not left any feedback as they would be most likely to be in the same situation.

wow, man, sorry to hear like fish said that totally sucks. :/
Luckily, I have yet to experience anything like that *knock on wood* that is extremely twisted and cruel I never would have imagined it happening to anyone.
Though one time at the post office I was being served and this guy next to me was talking really loud. I couldn't help but overhear.
"Man you gotta help me out! I got scammed! The seller's package came, but it wasn't what I ordered, it was a phonebook from 10 years ago!"
@_@
Some people are straight up sadistic.
Anyway, I have no clue on whether it's a PO guy, or the seller. What is his feedback and if possible, would you be willing to let us know his handle, so we can block him?
On the bright side, although you're right it's the priniciple that counts, at least this wasn't a R7 or anything... or worse, a game that plain cost a lot.

Honestly , if i was you , i would just leave it .
You will never know who it was and you could be blaming the wrong person or people.
Honestly, dont worry about it, try to avoid that seller if you can.
Thats one can advise i give you.
But in the other hand , something very similar happened to me , i got a full box of paper , and the seller replied he did send the goods and probably got them stolen on transaction , i told him some bullshit to scared him and it worked.
I said that i reported to customs and that i had the report of Xray from where the item was sent from and that it was empty , and that customs told me this kind of fraud does happened very often and that i could reported to their local police with the report customs gave me and his emails claiming that a third party did it.
About 6 hours later he sent me an email , that his younger brother was the one one who sent the empty box and kept my games and sent me Paypal payment not long after.
Anyway , hope it helps , and i know how it feels.

It turns out it was the seller who tried to scam me afterall  My sister was here, i told her the story and she asked to check the envelope. She then notice that it said 4.92 FRF, NOT 4.92 euro as i thought. 4.92 FRF is 0.75 euro. I cant belive i noticed this myself since both FRF and euro is printed on the sticker.
Check the prices here. (http://www.laposte-export-solutions.com/observez.php/norvege/affranchissement-standard-courier.html) You can see that letters upto 20g costs 0.75 euro to send. If the game was included it would be over 100g and it would cost 4.10 euro. Man.. this seller must be incredible stupid. First, why on earth scam someone for 10 euro? Second, the shipping price doesnt match.
Im so glad i figured this out. I have e-mailed him now and just told him that he forgot to include the game. I wont mention the note. I wonder what this idiot will reply.
EDIT: Just got reply.
Woaw, what's happened ? I send to you a letter with bubble with the game ..... Have you a picture from this letter please, I want to see if it's mine.
So I am a good seller, I have good feedback no ? I you tell me it's true that you have not receive the game I just can send tou you an another.
Best regards.
 Unfortunatly he did not write his name as sender on the envelope so he can deny that the envelope isnt the one he sent.

what kind of people would scam others for 10 euro including some twisted, mysterious letters?

Does the handwriting on the outside of the envelope match the handwriting on the letter inside?

No, i checked that also. The envelope have big block letters written with a marker, but the note got the writingstyle where the letters are connected together (dont know the english word for it) and its written with pen. Kinda looks like its written by a 7 year old so i guess its not his normal handwriting.

Indeed, its crazy. Might be that he got a better offer, but the game usualy goes for 10-15. Luckily i already recived positive feedback and i payed with Paypal.

It's called cursive.
I've never heard of anything like this happening. It reminds me of some like serial killer thing haha.
But if you have the proof that it's his address, and that is him that sent it, he can't deny that it only cost him like 75 euro's to ship the package (which obviously wouldn't of contained the game). I say take it up with paypal and then neg him.

I had a memory card sent to me from Canada once. It arrived with the end cut but there was still the impression of the card in the envelope. Which leads to my advice when sending something, make sure you pack an item where no-one can tell what it is....

MMm I hear ya on that one. When my brother and I were younger we both won a free t-shirt from gatorade caps. So my dad sent them to gatorade in a standard envelope and you could clearly tell what was in it and that it was being sent to gatorade inc.
A month or so later we recieved a letter from them saying the envelope was empty and that it was clear it was opened and the contents were stolen and all that was left was the letter we sent.
That postal employee must of been pretty upset when he opened it and saw it was only 2 t-shirts and now a million dollars.

Reminds me of the old grade school joke.
Dear teacher,
Bill is sick today and won't be able to attend school. Please excuse him from all homework for the next week as it only makes him worse.

Hehe ye, not a well thought note too :)
As mentioned, i got my money back. Some days ago i left him negative feedback and wrote him a mail about the things he did wrong with this scam. I then got this reply:
"i was on holiday (he wrote holyday) and i got a friend to send it for me" LOL So easy to see that hes lying. Good thing the case is over atleast :)

I thought about it, but doubt it. Its not my problem if he wants to scam. It was just so good to expose him. Wonder what he thought when he read it lol.

And.. all other scammers that are being caught, evidence what they did are put out. Its not like they keep this a secret in case other will do the same.

He also sold much other NES stuff at the same time. I checked his feedback and he got positive from the others so it seems he only tried to scam me.

or he got away with it......
OR someone at that France postoffice stole it....

Possible that he got away with it on others indeed, but some of the comments are like "fast delivery, good condition on the games" etc. so its not easy to tell.

Thought about that to, but its "impossible". The sticker stamp are attached when you pay. It was no sign of a previous sticker being there. And the typical excuses he came with gave him away. If he really included the game i dont think he would be that quick to offer refund or a new game on the first mail.
