Since sports games take an entire VMU, I was looking into one of those 4x memory VMU's. Anyone have any recommendations for larger DC VMU's? After so many experiences with 3rd party PS One memory cards, I'm just a wee bit leery about getting a DC one.

Sega actually released an official 4x VMU which works fine. it doesn't have the screen, but it works pretty well. There is a small number of games that don't support it, however, so you might want to find and check the list before you buy one.

Any that have manual switch are good but the auto switch ones suck.

Nexus 4x (has switch to select memory banks) is good and if you get the cable with it, you can dump extra saves to the PC for archival. Don't go for the 16x Nexus though as I've heard many horror story of corrupted saves due to cheap compressed memory.

I've also had a cheap Interact 4x with switch to select memory bank but it seems cheaply made because if you change the switch setting, DC doesn't acknowledge the change and thinks it's still using the same bank. You would have to take it out before changing the switch and then put it back in and the switch's right on the bottom where it's easy to accidently change the setting. :P

Otherwise I'd stick with Sega 4x VMU (also has switch for selecting memory banks)
