Hey everyone,

Just a quick question i have a few snes proto's and one of them doesn't seem to work, i'v tried the contacts, but there clean i don't think it's anything to do with that.

The Proto in question is "SIM ANT" ntsc, now it has 2 eproms, both with a white sticker on each eprom "sim ant rom 1 & 2" respectivily, but the Sim Ant 2 sticker is either, upside down or the eprom is the wrong way around?

I wanted to just ask some of the knowledgable proto "peeps" if i take out the eprom and just re-seat it the "right way" round, this shouldn't effect or do anything to the eprom or the data. Should it?

I don't make a habit of messing with proto's so i'm just asking, it's as good as dead already, so what harm! Right? ;)

thanks

If you look carefully at the top of the EPROM, on one end there should be a tiny notch, and it should match the white outline that's on the PCB. If the notch isn't on the same side the chip was put in wrong.

I was going to mention the notch's as well, thats what got me thinking the eprom was in the wrong place, since one eprom notch is on the left and the other is on the right.

My train of thought, was telling me both notches would need to be on the same side. Weither thats the case or not is another thing! ;)

When i get home tonight, i'll switch around that eprom and see what happens. ;)

So i got in had something to eat, and had alittle look at the SIM ANT Proto, i carefully removed the eprom i thought was wrong and re-seated it the right way, and IT worked. :D

Thanks JLukas for the reply as well! ;)
